Warning about sound deadening and spray foam
I was having problems with;
- trunk light would intermittently work
- reverse light stopped working
- brake fuse kept blowing (no brake lights, VDC, SLIP Brake lights on, cannot move shifter out of park)
Found the problem......
A wiring harness goes to the trunk (reverse lights and spoiler light), it goes thru a rubber grommet between the body and the trunk lid.
Well... about a year ago, I dynamatted the trunk and sprayed expanding foam into the trunk lid. Apparently the foam made its way into the rubber grommet and all along the rubber hose connector. This solidified and stopped a flexible join from being flexible. It caused the wires to break!
So WARNING.... if you are using the expanding foam to fill in gaps and stop rattles... be aware....

I would recommend against spray foam applications if you can replace them using foam blocks to stuff into crevices and spaces. Drawbacks from spray foam is the unpredictability of the expansion as well as gradual deterioration over time in the form of foam powder and bits that sometimes fall out as things get loose. If using foam blocks, make sure that they do not promote the growth of bacteria as you will have an odor issue if it gets in contact with moisture/water.
