Bose Sound Worth It?
Re: Bose Sound Worth It?
I think so, some people here think it's not a good system. I've had other modded systems in my previous cars but then again i spent over 2 g's on em. It has clean lows but the highs can use a little work. check out some previouse threads by using the search function.

Re: Bose Sound Worth It?
Nice sound, but I'd prefer deeper bass and cleaner highs like Prodi_G said. Compared to the stock system, the Bose kicks ***. The only way you should go with the stock system is if you plan on spending the money on an aftermarket system, but plan on spending $250+ on just the hardware to do so.

Re: Bose Sound Worth It?
My Bose system is OK I guess. My last car before the "G" was a 1991 Maxima SE 5-spd, with a Bose, sounded so much better than the one in my coupe. To me, it's a day and night difference between the two. My "Max" only had 4 speakers. I guess I'm disappointed, but I'm living with it.

If you're planning to get the premium package, which I would highly recommend, then you'll pay for the Bose. Otherwise I wouldn't shell out however much it is juss for Bose. I'm a huge fan of Bose but this isn't their best work...

Re: Bose Sound Worth It?
I've always had aftermarket stereos with subs and components in cars. I got the premium sound (no choice, wanted navi) expecting to be disappointed in the weak bass but at least having decent highs provided by stock tweeters.
Got the opposite. The bass response is pretty good, for a stock stereo. I listen to dance/techno frequently and it can articulate that type of music surprisingly well. But the highs. Oy. I have treble cranked to +5 and it's still muddy. I'd swear the treble function doesn't work right because it barely makes a difference. Why on earth they couldn't find a tweeter with better frequency response is beyond me. Yes yes, I know the old "no highs no lows must be bose" but I've heard much better from Bose. It seems like the highs should have been the easiest thing to get right.
I listened to the non-bose system when test driving. Because it lacks rear deck speakers, it has VERY weak bass response.
I've been debating over the last month whether to just replace the tweeters or to go all out and add a sub, eq, amps, etc. I keep going back and forth. Most of the cost is in labor and I'd hate to pay to work on it twice. I have a lot of the gear from my previous car so it almost seems like a waste not to use it. But it's kind of nice having a spare tire...

Re: Bose Sound Worth It?
I was looking for some better highs with my Bose system
so thought about changing just the tweeters but was told
it was a waste of 100 bucks so I changed the front components tweeters and door speakers 200$ and added a crossover and the difference was night and day. I had the garage change just one side to hear both and I was amazed at the difference. Bose tweeters looked real cheap.
Now I ordered the back speakers 75$ and I will put them in myself. I'm happy with the change, was not looking to change
amp, sub and all that stuff just wanted to get better sound..BTW the speakers are Infinity

Re: Bose Sound Worth It?
the bose is Ok, but itisn't fantastic. I've never known bose to do Bass very well.
But the Bose is part of the Premium package which has sunroof, dual climate, homelink, dimming mirror, auto lights....and you probably want to get that. If you spend 35k on a new car do you REALLY want to skimp on the last couple options just to save a few hundred bucks?

Re: Bose Sound Worth It?
Gboy, did you replace the amp also or did you just put in a new set of component speakers? I keep seeing that Bose equipment runs weird impedances. If I can change both the mid and tweet out on the doors, that makes the decision to try upgrading those alone easier, since they won't need to open the door again if (more like, when) I decide to install a sub.
What model speakers did you put in (or, which ones will fit...)?

Re: Bose Sound Worth It?
I did not change the amp, just the front components, just so you know I don't have the premium package but I do have a Bose 7 speaker system, I put in Infinity front components (tweeter, mid, crossover) model Refference series 6000cs 2 way and I drive the sedan, front doors are 6.5 and the rears are 5.25. The rears are on order from SoundDomain.com and I should get them this week, easy to put in yourself
The best way is go to a good garage and have them put
in some front components with the crosssovers and listen to the difference yourself, not sure what speakers are the best, guess its a budget thing, I've heard MBQuart, Boston Acoustics, Focus and I guess I can go on and on. I was not looking for any boom boom, just wanted better highs and more clarity and I got it, you want to hear it before buying
to be sure..

Re: Bose Sound Worth It?
Not only does the Bose system not sound that great, it is very unreliable. Those of us who have been in the Nissan family for a long time call it the Blows system, because the equipment breaks frequently. Being an arrogant company, they charge a fortune for replacement parts. It is not worth the high price tag at all. You would be much better off putting the money towards much better-sounding and longer-lasting aftermarket equipment.
