What are the features that you can do with the factory Navigation?

I'm looking into a 2006 G35 Coupe and deciding if I should wait for one to show up with Navigation or not. The car will be my daily driver so I don't go to places that I'm not familiar with. What other features does the factory Navigation allow besides just the navigation?

I've seen it show MPG stats.

I'd definitely go w/ navigation...either OEM or aftermarket. You should check out some of the aftermarket double din units available now, they are crazy. Has integration for almost everything. (bluetooth, full ipod control, rear view camera, real time traffic information, satellite radio, etc) Even for a daily driver; imo once you use navi, you never go back. I'm using an Eclipse AVN5500, my main priority was sound quality for my system; but the navigation is awesome. The new Eclipse units that just came out are awesome!! (5510, 6610)

The Pioneer AVIC (I think that's the model name) are nice. I'm not familiar with these aftermarket systems. If I do go with one, I'd want an integrated system, not one that sits on top of the dash.

Will they integrate with the G's radio and other functions?

Yeah the AVIC is pretty nice as well. There are some dashtop units, but most people on the forum run a double din unit, which replaces the factory head unit. I don't know if you've seen it yet, but theres a JDM double din trim kit for our cars, which makes the double din unit look like it came stock! Here's a pic for reference (double click picture to enlarge):

that looks great! I never liked aftermarket navigations because i've always seen them poorly installed in other cars, but that double din kit looks great.

So I would buy the kit, and then buy the navigation unit separately? How much should I expect to pay? Will I need a shop to install everything or is it pretty much DIY?

I have factory navigation, and an after-market DD kit. Playing Movies at the higher location is so much nicer, I mean looking at navigation at the higher location is so much nicer. I can still see the road while looking at it.
