A/C not functioning

Hey guys,

Just found out my A/C died on me today. Was wondering what are the obvious things to look for before I go to the dealer and most likely pay a hefty bill for fixing it. My A/C led and dashboard indicators are working but only hot air seems to be blowing out. I don't have any aftermarket intake which can damage the AC line so the latter is not an issue. Another thing I noticed is when I depress the AC button, I don't hear the compressor running. Do I need a freon refill already? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Is the radio working too? If you have the AC display and the radio works, then it's some type of mechanical problem. Take it to an AC place and get a diagnosis. It may be cheaper then the dealer.

Yes, the radio is working fine.

I've also heard that if you're low on freon, the compressor stops working to prevent damage.

i had something like that, it may be a bad or disconnected internal temperature sensor. its located under the plastic panel above the driver side pedals...(right below your right knee there is a small white plug connected to a sensor that if disconnected, ac will only blow hot air. try reconnecting it.
