Battery Questions!!!

Anyone fit an Optima Yellow Top Battery or Stinger Battery in their battery compartment??? I just got a cap and I havent installed it yet but alot of people are telling me that its not gonna help me in terms of dimming lights and hesitation... Just curious if any of you fit one of these batteries in your battery compartment. Thanks...

Re: Battery Questions!!!

D34 is the right one...

only prob is that our poles are reversed on our stock batteries so you might have trouble moving the posetive cables over to the far left, and ground to the right, with the new yellowtop.

Re: Battery Questions!!!

No its all good!

I'm still working on it,
damn other mods are eating up the cash flow! haha

i've redone all the lights, working on nitrous setup, and other minor mods here and there...
Right now i am dynomating the car and getting finishing my complex power setup, it alone is gonna be around $1000, but will be bullletproof!

Re: Battery Questions!!!

If it operates at something other than 12 volts, then you've got a problem. A 12 volt battery is a 12 volt battery, though. (Some old cars use to run at 6V or 24V, but I don't believe any modern car operates at anything other than 12V.) Do you mean it operates at high currents? That's not a problem.. it'll only generate as much current as the electrical system in your car demands from it. It's probably simply capable of handling higher current loads than the stock battery, which is just fine -- it won't force higher current into the system. (And that's where the fuses come in, btw... draw too much current through a circuit and a fuse will blow to save equipment/prevent fires.)

Re: Battery Questions!!!

Thanks a lot for the info..I was wondering whether anyone here had this issue and had installed a deep cycle battery or not. I mean I find it kinda strange for this one small sub to be pullin all this power but the JL Amps are known for this. So you think I should go ahead and upgrade to the Optima Yellow Top D34??

Re: Battery Questions!!!

I don't know if Optima makes a reverse post of the yellow top but they have a red top with the positive post (right side) where our g's need it. That ones called the D34R Red top. With a reverse post, you won't have to make any changes to the wires or anything. Plug and play. Hope this helps. I'm going with a lightweight optima, the D51R. It's saves 22 lbs from the stock battery and should work well even though I have the 450/4 and a 500/1 in my system. I'll be getting my coupe in a week or so and I'll let you know how it turns out.

Re: Battery Questions!!!

Get the yellow top if you play your system with the engine off. Get the red top if you don't. The red top actually has higher CA and CCA ratings than the yellow top. I'll let you know how it goes.
