Angry A/C acting weird, stuck at 60F ?

Hello All,

My A/C is stuck at 60F, it blows out super cold A/C but once I changed it to 61C the heater kicks in and blows out super hot air! So I have to leave it at 60F, Tried searching the forum but couldnt find anything. Does anyone have or had anything similar to this?

I have an '03 G35 Coupe 5AT

Thats crazy weird. I'd take it to the dealership for that one. Sounds like a electronic problem. How about unplugging the battery for a little while and then trying it again.

just a suggestion

Has the dash been apart recently? Maybe forgot to plug the ambient sensor back in?

+1 Check that first. Pull off the panel below the steering wheel at your knees and there is a black tube that slides onto a white plastic piece on the right. If the tube is off of the piece, the AC works abnormally.

its sounds like your a/c control buttons are bad...if you have a friend with a g35 ..try swapping it and plug his in yours and give it a try...

im a tech for toyota and when this happens its usually the ac control unit (buttons)

The ac control is integrated into the radio, so you'll heve to swap radios to try that. If your radio isn't working correctly, that would be an indicator that the issue is in the radio/ac circuit board.

jberry,

If you have not done so yet, follow this and it will work again!

Pull down the panel under the steering wheel and to the right hand side next to the center console there is a black hose that is supposed to be connected to a white plastic fitting (as others have mentioned above).

However, this is only half of it...

There is also an "ambient sensor" that is supposed to be attached as well. If either the black hose OR ambient sensor OR both are disconnected there will be no way for the HVAC system to properly judge the temperature in the cabin...

By the way, that is what was wrong with mine! ;-)

It is so nice now that I am not driving with either ice crystals in my eyebrows or buckets of sweat pouring of my face!!

hey jayjay1122 thanks for the advice, I'll try it out sometime this weekend. My friend who is a nissan tech said that it could be the ambiet sensor that is broken, cuz my vavle? opens a full 180 degrees to let all the hot air in when it hits 61*F. It is only supposed to move a 1/4" everytime I hit one degree up he says. So maybe this weekend I'll do what you say and try it out! will let you know!

Have you figured out what went wrong yet? I just have this exact same problem. I did remove the panel to install my CD player and plugged back in everything (just double checked it).

hello,

I havnt even took apart the dash at the bottom of the steering wheel yet, just been so busy!

I did have my friend at NISSAN/INFINITI check it out, he said when I hit the temp button to 61*C the valve opens up a full 180degrees and all the hot air blows out, he said for every 1*C or one degree up, the valve is supposed to open 1/4" and NOT turn a full 180*. He will check if one of two things is brokem, and I forgot which two he said he will check.

I know my problem may be dissimilar but my AC goes full blast when I put it on auto adjust and of course Im expeiriencing the CD ERROR problem with the headunit...Does anyone know if I upgrade to a aftermarket HU to completely replace the stock one with the bum circuitboard if that will fix my problem?
