I just ordered this product (Axxess XIAH-NS1) from Autotoys.com for $129.99. It's made by Metra, and looks like the best Ipod adapter if it works well.

I'm going to install it next week in my 03 coupe along with a Gen 5.5 Video Ipod.

MTran, did you ever get that installed? Does your 03 display ipod text? If the solution from autotoys is $50 cheaper than the one Jeff asks about, I'd prefer to save some $$.

What are your thoughts on the on the product? Easy to install?

Thanks.

IMHO, I'd just pay the extra $50 and get the USA Spec. It's proven to work. You didn't find any threads because it's probably a new item which means we don't know how well it works. However you're more than welcome to let us know how it works out.

G035,

I think several different solutions have actually been mentioned here:

1) There's the AXXESS solution that JeffZ mentions. This appears to be a very good solution as you can use the steering wheel controls and it displays text (artist / song title) on the radio display.

2) There's the AXXESS solution that MTran mentions. I'm not sure if this one displays text for the G35 or not, but it appears that it does the same otherwise.

3) There's the USA Spec product that doesn't appear to display text but you can control the Ipod (I could be wrong).

I'm curious as to the difference between #1 and #2 since they are $50 difference in cost.

Thanks.

I don't know the differences in your 1 and 2's. Heck I've never even heard of them. I only say go for the Usa Spec because we all know it works. True, the Usa Spec won't allow you have the text on the radio but even if you could it won't display in full...only first 10 letters or somthing. I could be wrong. Plus you can just look at your Ipod for song info. With the USa Spec you have full control with your steering wheel buttons, yes even skipping songs or control by Ipod itself ofcourse. It'll also charge your Ipod. Get a ProClip if you want and you're set.

Sorry for the late reply. I forgot to subscribe to the thread.
I did install the Axxess adapter, and it works, but sound quality is not very good. On my '03, the steering wheel controls won't skip back/advance tracks, but the radio controls work. The steering wheel controls will skip back/advance playlists if you hold up/down for 1-2 seconds.
Text displays on the radio, but does not scroll.

I'm pretty confident that I can fix the sound quality problems by rewiring the power wires for the Axxess adapter. I'm currently using the switched power from a 12v accessory plug, which caused problems when I used it for another device.

I finally got around to fixing the sound quality problems I had with the Axxess adapter yesterday, with the help of Metra tech support. It turned out to be a grounding problem with the adapter. I just had to cut some wires and run them to ground.

Music from the Ipod sounds as good as CD, so I can now fully recommend the Axxess adapter. I can't imagine any other adapter sounding better. I'm running an upgraded stereo system (almost 1000 watts RMS, AudioControl EQX, component speakers, 12" sub...)
