Lightbulb Advice: Best Sub and Amp for your buck

I just bought a $300 infinity 10" powered sub woofer. I'm not at all satisfied.
Since the market changes so often I'm not sure what's a good sub for the money. Several years ago MTX made great subs for the money, but I've been out of the loop for some time now.
Who makes a good sub/amp? Please, keep in mind I'm looking for the best bang for buck.
Thanks for any input guys, I did a search and yielded zero results.

Rockford Fosgate...If you want bang for buck...Otherwise, get Alpine, Phoenix Gold, Precision Power, Hi Fonics, Audio baun, Sound stream, and Orion etc...Those were the brands I know people used to compete back in the days...My favorite speaker is Kickers...I have the Solo-baric L5...Very strong speaker.

Anything from radio shack, flea market, and brands you don't know...Like off brands...They may be heavy but that might just be the case...It's all about the insides...You want a good brand that has low distortion...

If you wanna find a great sub for low $$, look up on ebay the Original Infinity Kappa Perfect 12.1. I bought my pair 8 years ago and they still hit hard today. I paid $270 a piece for them back then but now you can still find new ones on ebay for about $80. Power it with a Alpine PDX-1.600 and you won't be disappointed. Altogether amp, sub, and a box will run you like. Altogether sub, amp, 12" Zenclosure box will run you about $500. Well, thats atleast my opinion.

jl prowedge boxes are great for size and price...you can get it in a 10w3v2 or a 10w7 and both are no taller than 14' so it will fit under the rear parcel. an alpine pdx 600 amp is great...

elemental designs kv series is arguably the best bang for the buck sub out there and uses smaller enclosures compared to alot of the other brands out there

+1 on rockford fosgate I love my P3's my friend has P2's which are a lot cheaper and require a lot less power and they sound really good too, Eclipse and Memphis are always good too.
