Radio/ AC Control Problem HELP

I don't know if this is true, but I heard a double din conversion kit and after-market head unit could fix this problem?
I have this exact same problem with my 2003 Sedan and to make matters worse, my CD changer gave me CD ERROR F0.
..and I used to think so highly of this car
