audio system questions

1. Does the stock cd player have the right outputs such that I can completely replace the bose speakers, amps, and subs with all new ones? or will I have to replace the head unit to do this?

2. What do you all think of an all JL audio system...with their top of the line speakers, and averages amps and 12" sub? I hear good things about the amps and subs, but I've heard mixed things about the 6.5's.

Thanks!

Re: audio system questions

No outputs you can use on the Bose (without some tweaking or custom components). Lastly, in order to swap the stock headunit, you need to get the JDM dash conversion kit which will allow you to replace the stock unit with a dual din opening, and then you're gonna have to mod the AC control unit by adding an additional button (as the JDM unit does not have one for the Dual climate control button). Its all not that hard to do, but it can get costly, not to mention a little involved...

Something to think about...

As for the JL equipment, it kicks a$$......

Re: audio system questions

I LOVE the idea to add more punch in the stock system...
BUT....
I would HATE to change the look of the center consol....
I think the center consol pull the interior together....
this is however just my opinion.....

Ducati.... do you have any pics of the mods to the center consol?

Re: audio system questions

JL Audio is definitely the way to go. I strongly reccommend them as I have used a couple of their products and continue to run jl sub n amp today. Components I m not too sure about. If you post in the Audio section you should get some more help though

Re: audio system questions

Ok, so let me get this straight...there's no way I can hook up new speakers and amps to this system without ordering a new din from japan? This seems like it'll take a whole lot of extra time and money. Have a lot of people done this? How much do you estimate it would cost?

Re: audio system questions

A friend mentioned that I might just be able to buy a converter to change the line wires from the stock hu into an rca output. Is that possible? I've been looking over the forum, and it seems like a lot of people have mentioned upgrading the speakers and amps w/o replacing the hu.

Re: audio system questions

Many people have successfully bypassed the stock Bose amp and added aftermarket amps and speakers. Use the SEARCH function to sift through the A/V, SAT, and NAV forum and i'm sure you'll find the info you need. Good luck.
