How to remove top of dash for GPS antenna

Hey all,

I have my dash pretty well ripped apart right now and wanted to know exactly how to remove the large top dashboard piece that extends all the way from the left pillar to the right pillar.

The reason I ask is because about 1/5 years ago I had a local shop install my GPS system and they ran the GPS antenna wire up the right of my dash above the kick panel. I noticed right away the side piece above the kick panel to the right of the glove box was sitting down about 1/4 inch lower than the piece above it and I complained about it to the installer. He said that's just how the piece sits, and me not knowing anything about my car at the time, just accepted it for what it was.

Here I am 1.5 year later, and I now have the dash apart installing my SWI-ECL. I can clearly see the reason for the piece not sitting flush is because he ran that wire up the side and it's preventing the finisher on the side of the glove box from snapping fully into position.

So, long story short, I want to see if I can reroute the GPS antenna wire up the back of my dash into that right corner instead of running it straight up the right side. So here's what I've been (unsuccessfully) trying to find out:
  • How do I remove the top of my dash to see if there's a better way to run that wire? A DIY with pictures would be awesome, and tips are welcome too!
Thanks,
Brian

You should be able to remove the front pillar cover trim piece, the rubber door molding, and the kick panel and run the GPS wire to the corner of the dash with little hassle.

The pillar trim piece pops out at the top and then pulls away from the dash.
