Swap out Sirius for XM with Traffic?

Does anyone know if it's possible just to switch out the Sirius control box for an XM control box with NavTraffic? I don't want to have to replace the antenna or cables running to the radio. Is this possible?

Oh man, if we can do that, that would be sweet.

But I highly doubt our 2004 Nav systems are capable of handling the traffic piece.

I was actually hoping to replace my HU with an AVIC-D3 and just use the existing wiring and swap out the Sirius box in the trunk. Anyone know if that's possible.

So if I do go aftermarket (AVIC-D3) can I change out my factor Sirius box in the trunk with a XM box?

You will need an XM box for the AVIC. The OEM XM box won't work with the AVIC and likely costs more anyway.

Can I use the existing wiring that's running to the factory HU for the AVIC?

No.

If you install any aftermarket HU, you'll need an XM box specific to that unit and you'll have to mount it somewhere and run wiring from it to the new HU. The only part of the OEM harness that you will/can use are the two harness plugs for power/ground and speaker outputs.

some aftermarket HU's are compatible with the XM traffic service. For certain HU's, there is also an XM traffic module that you can use even if you have Sirius, if the HU is compatible with it. It interfaces with the navi system.
