Question Turnin up the volume

So my buddy just got two 12in type r alpines in his audi and it sounded so good that i want subs now, but since i got so little trunk space as most of you may know im thinkin of goin with a jl 13w7 with a 1000/1 amp, i figure the best setup to smash his haha while still have some room, im hoping, but my main question is if i get this bangin sub, what in my car am i going to break and will my car become a rattle box? its getting there with the stock subs so im assuming the jl setup will just dissolve my interior.... also im pretty new to the audio realm, but im getting a great deal which is the only reason im even eyeing some w7s, what else should i be looking for?

i also heard a sub like this needs a killer enclosure anyone wanna shed some light? would a 4080 fit a 13? 13.5 actually i think

anyways thanks for the help

To be honest, w7's are crazy and all, but theres lots of subs that will own his, for cheaper and less space. Check out www.caraudioforum.com, I use to go there quite a bit, always had pretty good success just from searching through posts.

I believe only 10" fits in the 4080 box. you'll probably need a custom box for the 13". do you plan on keeping your spare?

i think, with any sub, rattles will begin to occur. Unless you some extensive dynamat. Having the rear seats down will help reduce rattle but not completely. Also, some frequency adjustments can help.

13w7 will not fit in the coupe trunk without removing spare tires and a custom box but even that you will still loose some or most of your trunk space due to the size of the sub.

this is my 12w7, I'll tell you that everything move or vibrate- trunk, bumper, quater panel- like an inch when the sub hit hard.

I had a 12W7 and after all the hype I wasn't impressed as I thought I would be. It has kind of a mushy sound. For the price I would look into a high end Zapco speaker.

I opted for the driver and passenger 4080 boxes and two 10w6's powered by a 1000 watt Alpine PDX-1.1000. It hits nicely and I still have most of my trunk space usable. I don't have a speare tire though because it won't fit over the brakes anyway.

i figure i could lose the spare, i mean triple a can tow me for free, i knew the jl sub was big, but i didnt think it was thaaat big hahaha, maybe a 12w7 would work a lil better.

05blackmt i like your setup doesnt seem like you lost that much trunk space considering the size of the sub, can you describe your enclosure for me? was it custom or do they produce more of them? double panelled?

It's the airspace that the 13's require that is limiting in our small trunks. It depends on how much trunk you want to keep, if any. Then the sky is the limit.

Both of mine amps are under the cover. One in the corner where the stock bose was. The other one is mounted to the top of the spare tire area.
