Gauge size...8, 4, or 2

What gauge size do you recommend when using a 1000 watt amp, im not sure what the rms is, buts its a sony xplod from maybe 2 years back. Ive got 1 12'' kicker connected to it

it depends if you're going ot upgrade in the future..... i would just go w/ a 4 gauge. also run a capacitor so you dont drain the battery

you think a 20 Volt, .5 Farad capacitor is enough

i dont plan on upgrading

cant hurt to just do a 0 guage, takes a little more work but then you can run a distribution block for 2 amps and make it a 4 guage with one wire

4 awg is fine for that 1 amp

i had 4 gauge wire on my 1000 watt amp then when i got the G35 i put 0 gauge and now the sub hits harder and sounds better. i would go with 0 ga, and a 1 farad cap. remember 1 farad for every 1000 watts.

You need at least 4awg for 1000 watts.
