SUBWOOFER :: RATTLES

Anyone with subs... Are you guys experiencing a load of vibrating or rattling sounds coming from your rearview mirror... It seems to me that everytime I play my songs, as time progresses, my rearview mirror is making more noise and its getting pretty annoying.. What should I do? ( I do not want to replace the mirror either..) Feedback would be greatly appreciated! thanks

I found that it was more the light fixture shaking. I realized that a piece of plastic was loose and bouncing around. I'm pretty sure you can get foam tape and fix whatever is rattling if you take enough time.

What do you mean by light fixture?

Re: SUBWOOFER :: RATTLES

I have the same issue along with what vince states. The light fixture is the one right above the mirror along with the glasses holder. That was vibrating, so I used Dynamat up inside it. That stopped that rattle, but the mirror still has some, although much less now that the fixture rattle is eliminated. I am thinking maybe the mirror splits in half and putting some Dynamat on the back side of the mirror plate. Just not sure if the mirror opens up to do it. Go into the shop this Friday and will try then and let you know.

Re: SUBWOOFER :: RATTLES

I have alot more rattle from the rear deck lid but my mirror moves down really bad. Every time I move it back up the bass hits it falls back down I have not yet found a way to tighten it. My main problem is my alternater when I stop at a light and go with the radio on the tranny shifts hard.

Re: SUBWOOFER :: RATTLES

If you take apart the lid of the trunk.. and dynomat it.. It will signifcantly reduce the rattling of the lid. Yet, I have a different major problem. There is this weird coin rattling coming from my exhausts everytime I play my hard bass songs. Im taking in this Wednesday to tell them about it ( but taking out my subs and jus telling them my amp is there for new speakers). My mirror does not stop shaking and I need to figure out how to fix it.

Re: SUBWOOFER :: RATTLES

I have the same problem with my tranny shifting hard. It only happens when I have the volume above 13 and have hard hitting bass. If you find any solutions please pm me and let me know. Thanks.

Re: SUBWOOFER :: RATTLES

The only solutions are to
1. make sure that your grounds are very clean with no paint,
2. add thicker gauge wire from your alternator to + battery and your ground to - battery and from your engine to ground (the magic three)
3. re-wind or get a high output alternator
4. add additional batteries.

in the pic above with the 450/4 and the 1000/1, the max power (160 amperes) the amps can draw is more than the stock alternator can produce (about 110-130 amperes). When the power consumption of the amps is greater than the alt can put out, little things like spark can be affected. That's the source of the engine stutter.

I had a 450/4 and a 500/1 (110 amp max draw) in my sedan whose alt put out 126 amps. I still got engine stutter when I cranked it even with upgrades to the electrical system. When I looked into alternators, there weren't any aftermarket HO's out there to replace the stock.

I would recommend 1, 2 and 4 above.

Hey thanks a lot for taking the time to reply bro. I think I will try a few of those recommendations...I will probably start by replacing my stock battery with an optima.

no sweat. If you're worried about weight, adding may not be an option but you might consider just adding another battery instead of switching your stock one out.

Also, you might consider the red top v. the yellow if you don't play your music too much while the ignition is off. The red tops actually have a quicker response and in some cases have higher CA and CCA ratings than the yellow tops, which would help your transient response. Just a thought.

Re: SUBWOOFER :: RATTLES

Ok... just got my car back from Infiniti.. and they fixed it all.. every single problem I had.. I didnt think they would fix the clicking noise under the car because I got in a small accident, and they could have just blamed it on that since its beyond reasonable doubt... they fixed the rattling noise (all i did was take out my subs and showed him where the noise was coming from)... all in all, A SUCCESS.... now i can drive around and actually enjoy my car to its full extent..
