It's so expensive because it includes the climate control circuitry, not just plastic.

Whichever matches your year/color combination. Since you didn't say anything about your car, that's all the help I Can give.

So whichever of the 2003-2004 matches your car's color will work. There's only one company that makes an aftermarket trim - Metra "Turbo 2" - so unless it's the JDM one, it's going to be the metra one.

Guys if you know someone in Japan or go through a third party company you can get the jdm trim for 80 bucks. I bought the trim and a new navigation screen as mines was broken for 10,000 yen ($88 US). I then had to spend $60 bucks on shipping bringing me out to $148 total for the JDM trim, climate control, and everything for the navigation unit.

Curious as to their source - I had a brother in Japan, and was quoted $400 for the trim/climate control combo several years ago.

I don't know where he went and got that price but yahoo auctions had a bunch on there all less than 150,000. The currency exchange rate also sucked a few year back. The 02-04 Trim can be had even cheaper as they are everywhere in the junkyards and I can haggle those people down to 3000 yen ($25 bucks) on interior pieces Yahoo auctions had a bunch on there a while back this is the one I recently bought http://page5.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/e174525076

Here is an example
