Another Ipod integration, successful

So i installed my ipod kit last night. The total installation took me about 2 hours. only cause i didnt want my ipod in the trunk and i wanted no wires to show inside the car. Took some pics of the progress, wanted to take more but i kept forgeting .....id say the hardest part of the install was running the wire under the carpet to the armrest , that prob took me a good 30-45min right there everything else was really straight forward. The main box is now located under the back seat, drivers side. im very sattisfied with the outcome. will post pics up asap

where u connect to the sat cable:
<a href="http://imageshack.us"><img src="http://img483.imageshack.us/img483/5411/dsc08309wc0.jpg" border="0" alt="Image Hosted by ImageShack.us"/></a><br/>

where i ran the cable to hook up to the main box
<a href="http://imageshack.us"><img src="http://img453.imageshack.us/img453/6135/dsc08310ak8.jpg" border="0" alt="Image Hosted by ImageShack.us"/></a><br/>

where it comes through on the other side
<a href="http://imageshack.us"><img src="http://img458.imageshack.us/img458/3397/dsc08311xu7.jpg" border="0" alt="Image Hosted by ImageShack.us"/></a><br/>

I mounted the main box under the rear drivers side seat
Where i mounted the main box(before);;;ended up moving it a lil
<a href="http://imageshack.us"><img src="http://img453.imageshack.us/img453/29/dsc08312fk6.jpg" border="0" alt="Image Hosted by ImageShack.us"/></a><br/>

Where i mounted the box (after), ran zip ties through foam to keep in place, be sure to not do it to tight or you will rip through the foam
<a href="http://imageshack.us"><img src="http://img453.imageshack.us/img453/4572/dsc08317fh7.jpg" border="0" alt="Image Hosted by ImageShack.us"/></a><br/>

Dont worry about cutting the foam in the seat, you wont even know its gone

Zip tie the cable so it looks nice and clean
<a href="http://imageshack.us"><img src="http://img458.imageshack.us/img458/750/dsc08320kd0.jpg" border="0" alt="Image Hosted by ImageShack.us"/></a><br/>

And the ipod in the consle, ran the cable as far to one side to look as clean as possible, saw most people running it right through the middle and it looked retarded
<a href="http://imageshack.us"><img src="http://img483.imageshack.us/img483/623/dsc08323iz8.jpg" border="0" alt="Image Hosted by ImageShack.us"/></a><br/>

No wires showing at all
<a href="http://imageshack.us"><img src="http://img453.imageshack.us/img453/2599/dsc08324ya9.jpg" border="0" alt="Image Hosted by ImageShack.us"/></a><br/>

And walaa done! hopefully this helps some people

It is helpful to use something like a long nylon zip tie to fish under the carpet to pull the plug through. It takes about 10 seconds that way.

I accually used a zip tie, i just think iwas wasnt quite long enough, and it kept getting stuck on the metal piece thats right after the carpet ends and i couldnt fit my hand in there to grab it, but i finnally got it

Did G35parts ever come up with an extension cable for the iPod interface? It sure does seem heroic to have to mount the unit under the rear seat and carefully position that short cable. Good job, though!

no they dont have the longer cable yet....i dont think, but i didnt want to wait and saw no harm in putting it under the seat like i said u wont even know its there, sat on it jumped up and down a lil, couldnt feel a thing, just make sure u put the rubber paddings they gave u on the bottom though

dumb question;

when running the cable to the console, do you take apart the console to drill the hole and run it thru? Or unbolt it and lift it up?

I didn't see any instructions on that part of it

I did that - I just drilled from the inside out. Check out this thread - https://g35driver.com/forums/audio-video-electronics/212505-diy-installing-factory-ipod-03-5-6mt-coupe.html

Great! thanks.

So the rear console just snaps in the front? no screws?
