The V1 may not have different colored LED's and no, it doesn't talk to you or have a GPS in it but, it does work incredibly well - and of course, it tells you what direction the radar is coming from.

Just keep in mind every radar detector has flaws. None of them are perfect. The V1 is probably the closest to being perfect, but it's sensetivity will drive you crazy in an area with lots of x or k band door. It's greatest asset is it's biggest weekness. The STi's narrower view of the road is a great medium and so is the 9500i. Both of which are much better at not "falsing" on non police radar. I quoted falsing because auto doors do produce the same frequencies as real police radar. The arrows on the V1 are priceless. That is probably the one thing I truly miss on the STi. Many anti V1'ers and people that haven't actually owned a V1 always downplay the arrows saying, "when the detector alerts, all you have to do is slow down". The V1 makes finding the source easy. When my STi goes off, I find myself wondering where the hell it's coming from. I've tested the V1 and STi extensively against 35.5 ka and k band radar. Both are fantastic.

The problem with having the display in your mirror is that when the V1 display goes off, everyone for hundreds of feet behind and beside you notice!
I remember riding with a buddy a couple of years ago, and noticing the V1 mirror display (similar to the one you pictured) in a car beside us, we decided to follow the guy as we knew he'd offer us some protection.

He installed the V1 Remote Audio Adapter in the ashtray console so that it can be easily turned off. Genius!!
