Question Metra 99-7604 survey

How many of you out there bought and installed this DD kit. What are your experiences???


Please share.

PS: I bought my and I'm currently waiting for the HU (Avic-D3) to arrive.

Kit actually is built well, the buttons are a little rubbery though. That color match is ever so slightly off. But anyone who notices this is just hating anyway!

How come you chose the Metra kit instead of the factory DD kit?

^ Price, ease of use, don't have to worry about soldering ac buttons.. etc... It isn't half as bad as some people say. I actually like it... From what I've seen. Waiting for mine in the mail, doing a poineer D3 install

I used the JDM kit, soldering was pretty easy actually =)

havent really looked around for a jdm kit but about how much do they go for? i can get the metra kit from my work for 180 but my interior is the rough matallic black. so it doesnt match. from using all the metra kits i like them better than other brands. besides oem

What I've noticed is that the Metra seems to have a tighter fit with DD units, whereas the OEM kit leaves a less than desirable gap between a standard DD unit and the facia. I have OEM kit on my G and am thinking of purchasing a metra kit. I still haven't gotten a straight answer as to whether I can use the Japan OEM AC Unit with the metra facia.

Yeah thats true, but that little gap doesn't bother me at all.

so one the OEM ac controls, what has to be soldered? are you soldering wires together or to a circuit board?

Does the metra kit come in willow interior or only silver?
Does JDM make the finisher in willow or silver only also?
