So i finally installed my AVIC-D3

I think everything is working but i haven't had a chance to test out the navigation because my dash is still in pieces.

i had two questions:

1) can i place the gps antenna underneath the dash right next to the clock?

2) i used a hack i found off of avic411 to remove the mute wire and place it into the same harness just one spot up. then i grounded both the ground wire and the parking brake wire. i haven't had a chance to drive around and see if the hack worked, but i noticed at start up that i had to go through some sort of warning screen. did i do the hack correctly?

thanks

this board has been loads of help. now, i just need to get my damn dash back in. shoving those wires in the back to make enough space is a pain in the ***.

in retrospect, if i had known it would have taken this damn long, i would have just paid someone to do it.

yes, i did the same and the warning sign comes up the first time you turn to Navi, or video, but it works as long as you did you hack correctly. I am enjoying my D3... Does anyone know how you turn off the chime after every buttonpress..? It is driving me insane.

trying to figure out the chime too.
As for the GPS, you need clear line of site, mine is tucked in the passenger side corner, cant see it unless you really look for it.
I bypassed mine as well and just get a warning message when I go to NAV or DVD

nice... sorry iw asn't much help

gps antennae should work fine there, especially in nova since not much building interference... what i would do tho is have it sick over the back and hidden in that lil gap between the windshield, just in case you ever go to a city like ny, and reception is horrible.

I placed mine on the right hand side corner of the front dash. Its easier to place it there instead of behind the clock. The reception is great for me. I am not sure about the D3 but my Z1 by pass is to turn on the light on and off when loading screen start. It works for me.
