Have you guys seen the ad on Ebay offering to fix this problem for $165? They say that if pay them $165 and ship your defective unit to them that they'll fix it and ship it back to you, offering a 90 day warranty on their work.

They seem to have quite a bit of positive feedback from people who've had their head units fixed. I might give thema try.

Anyone else used them?

Sorry for bumping an old thread but did this ever get anywhere? Same happened to my G and it's not under warranty. I really don't want to get a new head unit and the dealership wants me to pay just for them to look at it plus the actual cost of the unit!

Sorry to say, but in my opinion, nothing will ever come of this.

Most of the model years that this has happened to are the 03-04 G's. There is no way that Infiniti is all of a sudden going to be ponying up the fundage to replace all the peoples head units/dash fascia and their circuit boards, gratis on a car that is over 5 years old.

Think about it this way: Back when they were designing this unit, they probably figured out of a 100 cars, 60 would get sold/traded in before the radio screwed up. Another 30 or so would either get crashed, have a new unit put in before the OEM one failed, or not have a problem yet. That leaves about 10% of the purchasers now having to deal with this issue. Some will never come onto a site like this to get the scoop, thus eliminating them from the complainers. All that is left is the 5 or so out of the original 100 to say, "Hey, this is bogus man, pay for our radios!"

Not gonna happen. For them, it's the price of doing business. I have a 03 G35 and my CD head unit took the hot, creamy one on me about a year ago. I first bought a PAC unit to get around the CD error, and then when it started draining my battery on a daily basis, I had to go out and get a double-din uit (Pioneer F series).

I called the dealer and Infiniti multiple times and got absolutely nowhere. I like my car and when I first owned it, I felt like a king 'cause I was treated as such by my dealer, etc. Now, it feels like every other car experience I've ever had - pretty ****ty.

I'll keep this til I run it into the ground, and remove Infiniti from my list of avaialable choices next time. Pretty much the only thing I can do.

I would suggest the same.
