Anyone running Jl Audio 10w6 with 1000/1

Anyone running two Jl Audio 10w6v2 subs with one Jl Audio 1000/1 amp in 4080 enclosures in a G35 Coupe? I am thiking about going with this setup and curious how it sounds. Do I need the 1000/1 amp or will the 500/1 provide enough power?

I have two 10w6's in 4080 boxes powered by a 1000 watt Alpine PDX-1.1000. It works great.

I used to power a single 10w6 with the 250 watt sub channel from a JL 500/5 and it worked well, so you could get by with a 500/1 with two 10w6's, but more power would be better.

I am running 2 12W6V2's on the JL 1000/1. I think the 2 10W6V2's will be fine if you just tone the settings of the amp down a little bit.
Also check out the JL site for the recomended settings. They say 500watts per sub is the best for optimized sound.

Gilley, you're running the 4080 enclosures. Where do you have your 1000.1 amp mounted? Also, I've seen from previous threads that you have an amp for your other speakers. Where is that mounted? Right now, I have two amps mounted to the back of my rear seat, but they are much smaller. When I go with the 1000/1, I'm assuming I need to find a new place to mount it or reinforce my rear seat backing to accomodate the heaver amp.

One reason I like the Alipe PDX amps is their small size. Both amps are about the same size as the JL 500/5 I used to have. I didn't want to mount the amps on the back of the seat because I somtimes need to fold the seat down to put stuff in there. I occasionally use my car as a small truck.

Both Alpine amps are mounted in a custom rack where the spare tire used to be. I can't use the spare tire anyway becasue of the BBK, so I used that area for the amps so I can still use my trunk.

Gilley, that looks sweet. Did you install this yourself? What is that in the middle between the amps?

I ran one 12W6v2 on a black 1000/1 for a while. I'm building a second 12" box right now to give the one a friend.

Never mind on the install Gilley, I saw this from a previous post on a different thread. But I am still curious about what's in the middle of your amps. Thanks.

Thanks for the compliments.

That is an 8 farad capactor between the amps. My buddy Chucky and I built it and installed it ourselves.

This is the same setup I went with and I am extremely happy with how they sound. I ended up having the 4080's sent to me unfinished because I was knew I was going to wrap them with vinyl w/suede. Every once in a while for some reason the driver side 4080's slides out a tad and I have to readjust it and tuck it under the rubber. Here are a couple pics of my setup.
