I'm thinking of buying 1 or 2 4080 boxes. I like the one that goes by the quarterpanel. The only question I have is that I've always had my boxes facing out towards the rear license plate. Just about anyone I ever spoke with would always recommend doing that to get the most bass.
My questions are:
1) Am I basically sacrificing some "thump" for the fact that the 4080 allows you to add a sub and not use up alot of trunk space. Or is does the bass still hit as hard(all other variable equal of course) in comparison to if I had a box facing the rear license plate?
2) I have not upgraded systems in a long time. I've got 2 JL audio 12w0's in a box right not(not installed). Will 1 10W6v2 provide as much bass as 2 12w0's?

P.S-Bring on the 12w0 disses!

 

You may be able to get more bass by firing the subs toward the trunk, but if you want usable space, you have to give up that small possibility. Audio in a car is a trade off anyway. For rear facing enclosures, check out www.zenclosures.com. But you can't use the pass through of the back seat with that kind of box.

When I had a single 10w6 in the 4080 enclosure driven by the 250 watt sub channel of a JL 500/5, it hit pretty good. Now with two 10w6's and two 4080 boxes driven by a 1000 watt Alpine, it hits much harder now.

 

I think my 1 10w6 hits as hard as my previous 2 12s (not JL) I had in another car. I don't know that one 10w6 will hit as hard as 2 12w0s though.

The 4080 allows you to still have a trunk and use the passthrough/seatdown with 1 or 2 boxes.
