If SQ is important, you'll want to stay away from compressed MP3's.

The PIO is hard to beat for the money. Just be sure not to plug or unplug the RCAs while the deck is on.

PIO is short for Pioneer.

you could place gauges or something over the head unit... just a thought, or if you are going for serious sound, you could get an equalizer single din unit to adjust on the fly!

Sorry John.

Yeah. Pio=Pioneer.

The 880 is a nice SQ enthusiast deck. To really get the most out of it, i would recommend an active setup.

This will allow you much greater control over the x-over, EQ, and time-alignment. Going active requires an independent amp channel for each speaker.

If you want a competition level setup, you can still use the 880 (there are better decks out there... but the 880 is pretty nice...) the difference would be in the processing. An outboard processor such as the Alpine H701/RUX controller is hard to beat for the money. A higher fidelity choice would be the Zapco DSP-6.

OR you could go with the processing built into the amps. This way you never run out of channels. Zapco's DCReference line is perfect for this type of setup. Both the DSP-6 and the DCRef amps can be controlled by a 1/2 din controller or a laptop.

Thanks Milox...and others. That gives me plenty to consider for now. I'll post back as my research turns up more questions.

Dual XDVD8183........
I do like the DUAL units, but I do not like the Motorized 7" LCD look, the Double Din just looks so much better IMO in our cars. The Alpine IVA-W205 plays ipods via touch screen, but you do have to buy the additional $10 ipod cable, not bad, both for under $600, and the cheap ability to add full Blue Tooth 2.0 streaming. But, the original poster was looking for a single din.

I actually bought a dbl din conversion real cheap so I will be getting XDVD8285 which is pretty much the same as XDVD8183 but double din version.
