Basic Upgrade Suggestions
Basic Upgrade Suggestions
I just put an order in on the G35. However, I don't like what I hear from the soundsystem. I find it flat and boomy and distorted when the volume got up. I have a 1992 Lexus SC400 which I prefer. I listen mostly to rock, sometimes loud and prefer a bright/crisp sound - the bass should be also crisp. I don't mind it punchy(?) but hate that constant booming sound which drives me to always be turning the bass down in the 35 but doesn't seem to eliminate the problem.
I would like some suggestions on upgrades to at least clear up these problems. I'm willing to spend some $, say $1000, but don't want/need to go overboard. I would like everything to fit into the stock setup ie. not take up any trunk space etc. Would love to hear some suggestions.
Also, does anyone know a good shop in Toronto for this - I would have it all installed somewhere.
Thanks

Re: Basic Upgrade Suggestions
There has been plenty of dicussions on this. I suggest you read through some of the other topics on this subject, like the one below.

Most people seem to suggest MB Quart speakers with JL amplifiers. I didn't see you mention whether you bought a coupe or sedan. That would be helpful information.
6MT Coupe / Diamond Graphite / Graphite
Aero / Premium / Splash Guards / Trunk Mat
3M Clear Bra / Grounding Kit

Re: Basic Upgrade Suggestions
I'm in the process of upgrading my coupe right now rvernon. I'm taking it in for an install tomorrow of the following components:
Front: MB Quart PCE 216
Rear: MB Quart PCE 164
Disconnecting the Rear Deck 6x9's
JL Audio 300/4
Infinity Basslink for the trunk
The priority of my install is very clean sound with just enough bass to fill in the lows, without setting off car alarms everywhere I go - and to make it all look as stock as possible.
I'll post a review and couple of pics of the Basslink once the install is done.

Re: Basic Upgrade Suggestions
I would go with Diamond Audio speakers and Zapco amps. MB Quart is good too but I don't like JL amps. I don't know how these fit into your budget at all. I haven't owned car audio stuff since 3-4 years ago.
