Question Radar detectors

So i got a $250 best buy card for xmas. Just got my g 2 weeks ago. I want to use the card for something car related. I have bose I have nav so the only thing i can think of is radar. I'm looking at escort 8500 x50.

Any thoughts on this and the best way to install? i do not want wires running to cigarette light socket. I want clean and permanent. I see some people are wiring into the rear view mirror.

any other detector recomendations are welcome if you don't like that one but please keep it to best buy items. Gift card to burn remember.

I like the Beltronics Vector 995 and the RX65 Pro. Search for Mike's mount in my350z.com and PM about ordering a rear view mirror mount for it. Then hard wire the power cord.

I have a RX65 and love it. Everyone I have talked to with 8500 are very happy with them. As far as mounting goes my RX65 is on a Mike's mount, and plugs into the homelink mirror using an inviscord. There are several how to articles on this site and you can find info on Mike's mount as well. PM MIKE (MIKE3348) on My 350Z, and check out

http://www.invisicord.com/index.html

For info on the invisicord.

Take a look at some of posts, on detectors. It mounts the unit directly under the mirror, so it is off the winshield, and still has a clear "line of sight all around", allows use of sun shades, and best of all the radar detector is not nearly as noticable from outside the car.

I'm ok with a windsheild mount as long as i can get it up high so the unit slides between the mirror and the headliner

That's cool, the Mike mount is just another option. Make sure if you mount it that high it has a clear "sight" path all around for laser.

I live in SoCal. Most cops seem to be using laser these days.

i have a excort 9500...i like it a lot...no problems..with it...i had the 8500 and liked it a lot as well...the 9500 has way less false signals and for the few it does go off for, you can turn em off
