External Temperature Sensor failed today

Today my climate contril panel began blinking after I started the car (2003 G35 Coupe 6MT with 45,000 miles) and when it stopped, the external temperature reading displayed 29F when it was actually about 60F outside. I was on my way to have the VA state inspection done at Custom Car Care in Yorktown, VA. I asked about it there, and was told that most likely the external temperature sensor had failed.
The technician said he thinks it is located near the front of the engine compartment, and could be something I could replace myself.
Can anyone help me with this -- i.e. a step-by-by "how to" replace procedure? Photos would be great, but just written instructions welcome.
Thanks! I searched the forums but couldn't find any reference to this - sorry if I missed an existing thread on the topic.
