my main 2 issues with my 04 silver/black Aero Sedan are the painted silver interior trim, and the bose radio. my plan is to buy a new dash install kit and replace the radio completely with something nice that has ipod and usb integration (suggestions welcome). has anyone tried this kit?

second, while i've got the console pieces out, i want to paint the new dash kit as well as the whole centre console. i'm thinking of basic black with 3-4 clearcoats, though more matte than glossy since i'm looking for something more understated than shiny.

what do the experts think of this plan? is that kit garbage? is painting the stock pieces a terrible idea? as an insurance policy, i figure if i paint the Metra before putting it in, i'll have a good sense of what it looks like beforehand....

and if it works, i'll also paint the door handle covers and the pulls/locks too. bye-bye cheapo painted silver...

thanks peeps

Look at this thread

It was on the same page as the thread you just posted.

Try searching so you don't get flamed.

sorry. i wouldn`t have seen that because i don`t know what `double din`even means, much less search for it or open a thread on it. i was searching for `dash`and `interior`, which meant i spent the morning reading about wood kits and learning how to get the dash off.

anyone wanna pick apart my idea of painting this stuff myself? i figure all i really want is black all over the interior, and if it looks a bit off, i can get a kit from Burtman.

anyway, thanks.

Someone posted a thread about painting their dash with platinum paint. I will try and find it for you.

Lots of people have painted theirs with good results. Just make sure and take your time, prep well and wetsand.

As for the kit, make sure and get the oem one. Quality is so much better and well worth the extra cost. Send a PM to Jason@RiversideInfiniti for a great price.

"Just make sure and take your time, prep well and wetsand. "

Can you go into detail. I have no idea what you mean by "prep well" and "wetsand."

I have an 03.5 Sport but I would love the "non-sport" interior look on the center console. To complicate things, I have Navi and notice a button on top of the unit that needs to be painted also, is it easy to take off and on?

What is the best way for me to make is as scratch resistant as possible while making it easy to clean. Btw, I prefer a matte finish.

Thanks!

If you don't know I would do a lot more research before you try to paint your interior parts.
