G35 Stock Nav System Install

well i have bit the bullet and gotten the stock nav system. with a little luck this install will work. a write-up will be written as soon as i get everything working. i started this morning and people werent kidding about ripping apart the entire dash to get to this stupid dash wiring harness.

oh by the way to all those naysayers about cost. total cost was about 2000 bucks with the new dash wiring harness from riverside infiniti and hardware off of ebay...

well back to the disassembly... pics to follow when everything is ready.

give me a couple of days because i have been at this for 3 hours and i am just about ready to take out the dash pad

wish me luck

like i said... it only cost 2000 bucks... very comparable to any other aftermarket solution out there... JDM bezels are already 3-400 bucks as is dependent on where you get them... and then the avic-d3 is already what 1100 for one with bluetooth and backup camera... so for a couple hundred more you have stock navigation sleekness

well... its not just that it is being very time consuming as well... thankfully i have another car to drive around. 8 hours so far and i just have the harness partially out... still no install yet only disassembly

thanks for the support though!

Alex

Good luck with the installation. A DIY will be a nice addition to the site.

well so far im about 12 hours in and just started the reassembly. disassembly took about 10 hours WITH instruction from the lovely infiniti manual... ugh... the harness is about halfway in. the troubling part about it is guessing with the other connectors that i forgot to label. not good. this is the first and last time i will ever attempt this because it is so aggravating. the door connectors took me probably a grand total of 3 hours to pry off because i didnt know how to get them off at first. little did i know there is a lever you have to unlock first

overall this has been a nightmare and my weekend installation has now carried me into the week and my car that i bought 5 months ago is now sitting in pieces all over my garage

all i have to say is BAH!!!!

if you need help with the wiring hit me up .I installed factory navi in my car for less then 1000.I bought the navi off ebay and got the wiring diagram ,radio and the cluster sheets if you need them.Or you can send me what you have and i can hook it up.o ps the only thing that will not on the navi is the navi does not show the gas level.I think because of the cluster.

why would you install OEM navi? My car came with navi and I hate it so much. Pretty much any aftermarket DD headunit is far superior to OEM navi

well if you want to sell the car with oem vs aftermarket the buyer would take the oem.And it adds value on the car..................

I hope he's finished his install by now since this thread is from January. Although, from the abrupt end to his posts, he may still be trapped in a web of wires under his dash.
