OK, so I haven't had any problems with the G in a while so I guess its about time right? Yesterday I was driving home and all of a sudden the Air or Heater turned on full blast. I noticed so I tried to turn it of.. NOTHING HAPPENED. I pushed every button more than once and even held them down like i was performing a fatality on Mortal Kombat but that did nothing as well =/

Since I was on the freeway I couldn't really stop and see what the problem was so I continued home but then I tried to turn the radio on and NOTHING!!!!! All of the buttons were lit up as usual but the main LCD display was completely black. I tried everything and again in resulted in failure. However, my steering wheel controls were still in tact and I was able to turn songs/switch disks and such..

I finally made it to a light and I turned the car off until the light turned green and when I started it I found that restarting the car had done nothing because the problems still existed...

I got home and turned the car off for about 1 1/2 minutes.. I turned the key only to Accessory and vuala everything was back to normal. Then I started the car normally and everything was good, so I went to bed. Woke up today and before leaving for work I checked it all out and everything was good so I figured it was just some freak thing that happened. But then on the way home from work the heat turned on full blast and the radio blacked out again.. UGH!!! So I tried the same things to get it to reset but this time everything is a no go.

Any thoughts/ideas as to what it might be?? Has anyone ever heard of this before or experienced the same problem?? I just took the battery out and I'm going to let the computer reset itself but if that doesn't work I guess I'm going to have to make a trip to the dealer and that is something I'm not looking forward to since my bumper to bumper has expired.

i had the same problem. The circuit board for the controls is overheating causing the buttons to not work. If you are under warranty then the dealer will fix it.

 

Would this also cause the radio to malfunction? And my warranty has expired =[ Any idea how much they are and if its a hard install?

 

Yea my radio was also malfunctioning. The circuit board runs behind all the air controls and radio. They also replaced my headunit. Im not sure how much its going to cost. I would guess anywhere from $500-$1000.

 

Boy, Atleast I know your stance on joking And to think, I was about to suggest perfoming a Mortal Kombat Babality (Sub-Zero style), the typical Fatality only works on the cruise control and ignition control modules of the G.

 

I had this. AC full blast, radio out. Circuit board behind that radio that's part of the BCM goes out. I got mine changed under warranty

 

3 times now in the last year, my radio has just stopped working, but ive never had that AC problem.... is mine the same thing?

 

If you don't have warranty, how much would such a thing cost???

 

mine did the same. it never happened again. if it does, i hope it happens in the next 4000 miles, cause that's all I have left on the warranty. If not, I'll just have to plunk down for the double din. and then the climate control will go out, and then i'll have to set it all on fire.

 

I had the same problem, I brought my car to the Dealer last Thursday. They have told me, that they have replaced the Radio and the Circuit board, and still can't get things to work. They have had my car for 5 days now and still no fix. When I talk to the guy at the dealer ship, all he tells me is that they have been in constant contact with Tech support, and still have not been able to figure out what is wrong.

 

alright i found a quick fix... i too the battery cover off and found the fuse for the radio. i took the fuse out while the car was turned on and waited a few moments.. i put it back in and everything went back to normal... everything is fine now so the dealership can suck a fat one for trying to charge me so much money.. its been about 2 weeks now, so hopefully it doesn't break again in the near future.. i will keep you guys up to date.

I am having the same problem. I took the fuse out last night to check it and it was fine. I might try it while it is running.
The battery ran down 3 weeks ago when I went on holiday and didn't realize the trunk lid was slightly open.
It ran down the battery and it has been doing this ever since.
I don't have any warranty either

 

I have been having a similar problem. You mentioned your LCD screen went black...I am assuming you mean the NAVI screen right? Well lately, I have noticed that my NAVI is screen is going black and all I see is the red arrown that represents my car. Is this the same thing yours is doing? If so I am wondering if this is the begining of more problems to come.

 

i dont have the navi just the stock bose 6-disc cd changer.. on mine the radio lcd screen goes black and the a/c goes on auto and then i cant turn it off..
hope you still have warranty cuz that sounds like it will be pretty expensive to fix.
