I'm doing my own install of my newly acquired DD Eclipse nav HU. This is to replace my stock 03 Coupe Nav. Where is the VSS(Vehicle Speed Sensor) wire located to hookup to the aftermarket HU? I was doing some searching and I guess it is a green/white wire located at the radio harness but that's for an 05. Any help??

 

I havent looked at an 03, but it should be the same.

 

Ok, so, green/white wire. Does this go into the back of the stereo through the harness? Should I cut it and run it directly to the aftermarket wire?

 

There is a way to check it. Im not great with electronics, but my installer put a (tester) on the wire then we just backed up then went forward (maybe 10ft) and when it got a signal he knew that was the speed sensor. I would make sure you have it right though. It makes a big difference

 

If you have a multimeter put the setting to AC voltage, go for a drive. I'd reccommend driving for more than 10 feet, obviously with someone else watching the multimeter or driving. As you should see the voltage increase and decrease as you accellerate/decelerate.

According to my company's wiring guide it is White/Green stripe in the radio harness. So you can always just temporarily tap on to the wire and test it out.

 

Wouldn't the voltage change regardless with the rpm change?

 

I dont think so, Im pretty positive that its gotta change with speed only
