Re: Is this audio install worth $3,000?

$170.00 - Front speaker install (2) RIP OFF
$90.00 - Rear Deck Install (2) RIP OFF
$350.00 - Fiberglass 10" Subwoofer install in tirewell 350 for the same box blksnake got is probably fair
$475.00 - Audison SRX5.600 Amplifier
$85.00 - Amplifier Install to back of rear seat first, screwing an amp to a seat is like not even 5 minutes worth of work. If they are going to so some costom work with dug-in components then thats different. Second, do you really want to screw an amp to the back of your seat? Just seems like the easy way out to me. This is what you do to your volkswagen bug when your 16. Not your G.
$250.00 - Wiring (RCA Cables, power, ground, remote, etc.) ridiculous. 65 bucks for this
$150.00 - Headunit install with 1/2 din center channel speaker. might be worth it if you are doin the double din with the dual climate switch and all that. Personally I would do it myself. But if you are worrieda bout soldering and such....
$65.00 - 5.1 surround sound processor install
$255.00 - Dynamat Front doors and trunk just for install?
$125.00 - Infinity Kappa 63.5i (pair) 6.5"
$150.00 - Infinity Kappa 693.5i (pair) 6x9"
$185.00 - Infinity Kappa Perfect 10d VQ sub
$309.00 - Clarion DVH940 - 5.1 Processor
$285.00 - Clarion DXZ745MP HU

Someone above said it exactly right: discount on prices and reamed on installation.

HAHA... damn, I didn't even think about the position of the sub. I figure my ignorant ears wouldn't know the difference so I'd just dump it in the spare wheel well. I'm sure I would save some money now going with a box I could move around, then just take out when I need extra space.

Can't do much about the amp location. I need the space, i still need to fold down the rear seats, and I still need the spare tire.

You could try putting the amp in the middle of the spare tire. If it fits there, you could have them mount it in the middle of the tire so you can still have the spare in the trunk, and not have to mount it to the back seat. Or possibly put the amp where the stock bose amp is now. Putting the amp on the back of the seat is definitely not the way to go.

Are you going to get a few more quotes on your install prices? They are definitely too high. I think they are giving you a discount on the equipment and screwing you on the install. Go somewhere else. Your wallet will thank you.

The scosche kit mentioned in the previous post is very good. Im using scosche and its a great wire. $250+ is a total rip off. All you need is an amp kit like that one. An amp install should be about $65-80 at most shops.

Is there enough room where the bose amp is to place a decent amp like the one I need? I am going to get some more quotes this weekend. I think I'd rather learn to do it myself than pay the $3,000 at this point. all these audio parts come with installation manualrs, right? LOL!

Re: Is this audio install worth $3,000?

Yeah there is a large area under that plastic um...thing next to the spare. I actually have an amp mounted on top of the holder that holds the bose amp. (if you've looked in there you know what im talkin about). As far as learning how to do it there is really no problem. It is really pretty simple. The hardest part is how to pull things apart without breaking them and where to place components (space wise).

Space under the passenger seat is always an option for an amp.

Re: Is this audio install worth $3,000?

ONe of my 2 channel MTX Thunder amps is mounted on the trunk floor where the stock amp was located (driver side of spare tire wheel well under that plastic border piece). My other 4 channel MTX Thunder amp is screwed in to the back fo the back seat. I like the MTX amps since they are more compact than say a JL. The Alpine amps are smaller than others but a little more expensive. If you are only going to use 1 amp, you should have enough space where the stock amp was.

See if it fits there first, remove trunk mat, remove spare tire, remove 2-3 10mm nuts holding the plastic piece the borders the spare tire on the left and see if your amp will fit there.

Re: Is this audio install worth $3,000?

just want to add 2 my cents.

Audion is an exellence amp. You should have any trouble with it. I also think that beside zapco, tru technology, audsion, there is a another unkown good amp call Arc Audio.

regarding to the 6x9, you should remove them and use that as opening to allow air coming from inside to the trunk. this will help the bass out. Instead use the rear side panel like g35audio suggested.
