Bose Stereo and Climate Controls Kind-of Dead

This problem has grown in my car in the past month. Shortly after starting the car, the buttons that control the Stereo and Climate controls stop working. They still light up, except for the radio station display and the current mode of the climate control.

The systems does work. By this, I mean that I can adjust the stereo via the steering wheel. I cannot adjust the climate, but if it is "frozen" on auto mode, it will cycle through.

What is the matter? Does anyone know how to fix it?

Links?

It sounds like your circuit board for the AC and radio died. If your car is still under warranty, take it in for a new radio.

Sadly, my car is not under warranty and I did not extend it. Any estimates on a new radio/ circuit board?

I have an OEM HU that I just pulled from an 03.5 coupe. It's a Bose with SAT option. The circuit board is attached to the HU. PM me if you're interested. I'll be posting it for sale next week.

incase you haven't fixed the problem yet, i've been experiencing the same thing. the circuit board might be o.k. but the ribbon that is attached from the stereo HU to the face may be damaged. this will happen if you have removed your stereo before. if you mess around with ribbon and get it to connect correctly, you'll get everything working just fine.

although i got my stereo and AC controls working again, i've had a bigger problem getting the stations to display. i just gave up on that.

correct, the poblem is in the ribbon cable that attaches the panel to the radio. it is a very common proble. most times it can be repaied by taping the cable to the bottom of the radio.
