A 500/1 should be sufficient for your 10w7. I'm running a 500/1 to my 12w7 in the sealed prowedge box, and it's doing a decent job. Check JL Audio's recommended power range for the 10w7 on their website: http://www.jlaudio.com/subwoofers/RP_Chart.html

i would go with the 500.1 that its a great amp and will do an awesome job. 1000.1 is a lot of power for just one unless thats what your goin for.

i'm running a 500/1 10W7 combo, sounds excellent in a sealed box - 1000/1 is overpowered for a single 10 and will also void the subs warranty

Re: 500/1 or 1000/1 amp

so most of you are running on sealed boxes? do all of you have coupes or what? did you have to remove the spare in order to fit the sealed box? what is the dimension of the sealed box you guys used. I went to the car shop and talked to the installers and they recommended i go ported, and told me i will get more output out of the sub. And they told me to use a 1000/1 if im going sealed, is this true?

I agree with others. 500/1 is the recommended amp for the 10W7. The 1000/1 will overpower the 10W7 and at higher bass gain levels void the warranty and cause damage to the subwoofer.

I went with a custom sealed enclosure for my 10W7 and JL 500/1 amp combo. I still have my spare available and the sub ROCKS!

Good Luck!

Re: 500/1 or 1000/1 amp

some ppl have recommended that i go ported, and said i will get twice the loudness, and that 500/1 with a sealed 10w7 wont have enough output, he says that most are dissatisfied with this kind of setup, can someone back that up or no? but most of you here are using a sealed box and saying it sounds awesome, but have any of you actually heard a ported box setup for the 10w7 in a coupe with a 500/1 yet? i want to see someone who has heard from both setups.

shibal-z, can you take a pic of your setup so i can get an idea of how your box fits in your trunk? also are you running of the stock bose system?

Re: 500/1 or 1000/1 amp

Haven't had time to take pics of my setup, but it's a custom fiberglass box that's been placed into the driver's side trunk space behind the rear wheel well. The box sits flush with the trunk opening on the left and extends down below the subfloor. I have heard that 10W7s are designed to be ported, but I think they sound awesome in a sealed enclosure as well. Strictly speaking you will get a few additional SPLs, but I don't think there will be any SQ differences between a sealed and ported enclosure. I can dial up the gain on my bass and I can get body thumping bass to the point that the 10W7 beats my heart for me. So I'm pretty happy with my setup. Yes, I'm running this off my stock BLOSE HU. I'm waiting for a domestic company to start importing the double din kits at reasonable prices. I think $400 with shipping from Japan is outrageous. Other than that I haven't even started researching HUs. I'll prolly do a search and see what the general consensus is on a good HU. Then again, the cosmetic changes upfront with the aftermarket HU can invite the would be thieves from jacking up your car so it's a toss up for me.

how much did it cost you for that custom box? i thought you had a regular box, as in a square sealed box... that you can take in and out of the trunk, cause thats what i meant... so that means your sub fires upwards towards the sky?

Re: 500/1 or 1000/1 amp

The way I have my sub installed, it looks just like Scobic's fiberglass/MDF custom box. Take a look at his pics on the following thread:

https://g35driver.com/forums/showfla...sed&sb=5&part=

Only difference is that my box is a bit more flush to the left side of the box and does not protrude beyond the trunk opening. Also, I had the amps installed under the rear deck mounted to a amp rack so I was able to save the spare. I also had the inputs and controls facing the rear seatbacks so I can simply lower the seatbacks and make adjustments if necessary. Hope that helps.

500/1 is perfect for the sub. If you want to go with a 1000/1 then you need to step up to the 12W7. If you are in So Cal you can stop by to hear a 12W7 in a ported custom box powerd by a 1000/1 in a F-250. That truck is also in this months X-Ten Trucks magazine. Also you can hear a 10W6 in a custom sealed box powered by a 500/1 that might help you decide.

Do you hear me?
