is this box dimension too small for a 10w7?
i measured the box, its a sealed box, heigh its 13.5" width is 22" and depth is about 14"... can someone tell me how many cubic foot the box is? and is this box good enough for the 10w7? if not i might need to get a new box built. What do you guys think?
and does it matter which way you fire or aim the sub? or doesnt it matter?

yes its for a 10w7, and its a sealed box, i just hope this box isnt too small... im not sure how thick the wood is... ill take pics and show you guys what im talking about...
i just hope its within range
i heard that jl specs were too small, and that most ppl go a lil bigger, like 1.5 - 1.8 cubic feet for the sealed box, but im not sure if this will fit inside my trunk, its a coupe...

so you're saying my box is at least 1.78 cubic foot or even bigger? k here's a pic i took of the trunk with the box... what is that tan thing behind the surrounding, is this supposed to be remove to sound better, i notice the sub didnt sound that good... maybe because of that?

woops this box is not square its a wedge. That thing is probably a spacer so that the 9" sub can fit without hitting the back (my guess). Get a ruler or tape measure (have a caliper?) and measure it. Well it looks like that amp is a 500/1, which is more then enough power.

Re: is this box dimension too small for a 10w7?
ok the top depth is 10.5" and the bottom depth is 14.5"
the width is 22" and the height is 13.5"
and i did some math and came out that my sealed box is 2.0 cubic feet, and jl recommends 1.00-1.25 cubic feet for the 10w7, is this why my bass sounds so sloppy? cause of too much airspace? maybe i need to go with a smaller box... what do you guys recommend for 1 10w7, for those of you who have one?

So much R&D goes into JL Subs that you really need to stay within thier recommended range. I totally agree with JustICE with being close to the maximum but don't go over. Box design is half the battle. You have a great sub now you just need a decent box.

Re: is this box dimension too small for a 10w7?
Hey I got different numbers from your calculations of the wedge box:
{[(13 + 9)/2]12}20.5 = 2706 cubic inches. So, 2706/1728 = 1.57 cubic feet. Again, this is assuming 0.75" thick material. Go measure the thickness of the material.=)

Re: is this box dimension too small for a 10w7?
The power wedge boxes that JL sells for its own subs always blow me away with how good they sound. So I really can't imagine building a box bigger would sound better. You can use poly fill as well but you just end up with a bigger box taking up space you don't need to give up. But if you are OK with that, go with it.

Re: is this box dimension too small for a 10w7?
justice i appreciate your help in finding how many cubic feet my box is, but where are you getting these numbers? here are the measurements to my box i currently have now...
Width = 22"
Height = 13.5"
Bottom Depth = 14.5"
Top Depth = 10.5"
and yes i think the wood is 3/4 MDF 75% thick

Re: is this box dimension too small for a 10w7?
I get the same volume of 1.57 cf. I get that from deducting 1.5 inches from each of the dimensions you gave to account for the thickness of material. This is assuming the dimensions you gave are of the outside of the box.
