need some advice

So, its my understanding that the G coupes that have the Bose system have 2 6.5" speakers in the front w/ tweeters, 2 6.5" speakers on the rear side, and 2 6x9 (subs???) in the rear deck.

Now, I've already got an AVIC-D3 and a 4 channel infinity amp from my old car, where would you recommend installing the speakers? I was thinking of getting Kappa Perfect 60.67cs for the front, but I can't decide what to do with the rear. Should I do 2x 6.5" or 6x9s?

I'm planning on getting a used 4080 box as well, starting with just 1 and seeing what I think. I'm not huge into bass and I'm strapped for cash, so don't know if I want to go ahead and do both, but I def. plan on leaving it as an option when I get the install done. Any reason to get a drivers side box over a passenger side box?

Thanks fellas!

If you're doing the 4080 sub, I'd recommend only installing the rear side speakers and leave the 6x9's alone or remove them altogether. Another option would be to install front speakers only and keep the stock rear side speakers.

If you're not going to use a sub, upgrade the 6x9's and use them as bass.

Thanks Gilley. 4080 is definitely coming. I just want to upgrade right now b/c stock speakers + avicd3 = crappy audio. I wasn't sure if I'd get better sound by replacing the side or rears. Most likely I'll just scrap the 6x9s.

1 more question, I'm thinking of using 2 different amps for the speakers/sub to get better quality (unless u can recommend a good one that can power 4 speakers and a 10" kappa perfect sub)

I've seen a few people put amps on the opposite side the car (like a passenger side 4080 w/ a drivers side box for amps)...where can I get something like this, anyway it may accommodate 2 amps?

The other alternative I'm considering is somehow putting one under/behind each of the front seats.

in the front will be a PAIN!!!!! i did mine behind the seats looks like this:

Its not done so the floor isn't all the way down and you can still see the cables looks like its sideways but its actually pretty str8. Two amps can get heavy so you have to do some modifications to the seat. If you decide to go this route shoot me a pm or keep an eye out for my post when i finish to see what i did to the inside of the seat.

A JL 500/5 or ED NINe.5 http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_...roducts_id=550 will be plenty to power all 5 channels.

I haven't seen any premade amp racks like you want.

Thanks Gilley. Can that amp power 2 subs (if I chose to do that)? Didn't know if that would mean it needed to be '6 channel'??? Sorry, i'm pretty much a car audio noob when it comes to how to set stuff up, but I def. appreciate a nice sounding system.

CLiX, the reason I don't want to do this is because I'd like to be able to fold the backseat down, I'd also like to maximize trunk space (one of the reasons I'm going w/ a 4080. I don't plan on ever carrying golf clubs in the trunk (could always do it in the back seat) and I've only had 1 person actually sit in the back seat of my car, so I think the amps on the floor there might work best. Someone else on here has done it, built a box for them and then carpeted over it, looked tight. I have no idea how much that is going to cost me tho.

The ED amp is a nice one and well-priced too. Sean, does it take differential-balanced inputs? Didn't see it listed

The 500/5 won't be powerful enough for two subs, but it will do well with a 10w3, 10w6, or any other 10 that you put in a single 4080 box. I have a 500/5 that I used in my coupe to power the entire system and one sub. The sub was mounted under the platic piece next to the spare tire. If you want to do this, I have my platic piece that has already been cut to fit the amp if you want to trade.

When my plans became more ambitious, I replaced the single 500/5 with two Alpine amps (1000 watts for the 2 subs & 600 w for the interior speakers) and 2 4080 boxes with JL 10w6s.
