Help with V1 hardwire install

Hey all, My name is joe and I think this is my first post here. A little background, 2005 DG G coupe, Ztube w/ JWT Pop charger, APEXi super grounding kit, and a V1 radar detector which is the reason for this post. I am attempting to hardwire it and have clamped to the thick black wire that is screwed to the back of the cig lighter and grounded to a bolt under the glove compartment that is conected to a metal bracket. I STILL DONT HAVE POWER!! Argh! The fuse is good. So I haven't a clue as to what's not right. Any help is appreciated.

Are you sure that black wire is for power?

Dude forget the hardwire kit that it comes with, I tried that and realized it was a huge mistake. Just get this.

Your best bet is to use an add-a-circuit from autozone. You will need the smaller sized one and buy an extra 10amp fuse. Get to ur fusebox in the kick plate, pull one of the fuses, put the addacircuit in and run the power wire to it.

If you're using a wire tap like this...

Be sure that the metal actually went throught the plastic and has contact with the actual metal wire inside.

But I don't think any black wire has power...
