shouldn't that be the shop's problem since they did the install? the amp is mounted on the back of the rear seats, and the sub is in an enclosure sitting behind in the trunk.. it was on a very hot day when I had it installed and was using it for the first time.. could that be the cause?

Stock. But I have the 2008 coup and the stereo works really good for me. I have a Infinity Basslink from my BMW I would sell.

If you pound the hell out of your amp and sub on a hot day it will do that... Happened to me in Florida with my two 10's and amp... You need to cool it down, or take it easy on your bass. You cranking it up? I have mine set at BASS 0. No need to crank it up...

+1
get a better amp or turn it down, no need to bleed out because of music.

yea it was the first day I bought it and it was roughly 90 degrees F out and I had it blasting just to test it.. they never warned me to do a break-in and have a lifetime warranty so w/e anyways thanks for the help.. I also read in the manual for the amp that it has a shut off system, so I figured that's what happened

I run a JL 12w6v2D4, and just upgraded my amp from a JL 250/1 to a JL A1400 (the first was 250 watt RMS and the new one is 500 watt RMS), the new amp also has a bass ****.

The 12w6v2 sounds EXCELLENT, as far as SQ, but does take up a lot of room. If I had to do it again I would have gone with the 10w6v2.

Oh, and it is running at 2ohms.

btw, box size and type makes a really big difference, so when selecting your sub, take that into consideration. And of course how much power you push is a big concern as well, and who (brand name) makes the power. Oh and I also sound deadened the trunk with FatMat. If you start to push any real power everything starts to shake and rumble, and rattle like hell.

Also, make sure you pad/deaden the license plate frame, cause it rattles a lot.

+1.. I only push ~200watt rms I think on the jl10w3v2 and **** rattles like crazy.. I used some generic sound deadening mat and it still rattles (can be heard on the outside, but sounds fine on the inside), but definitely put some on the license plate
