Car Computer Pics

Hey guys,

I've been finished for a while with this but still waiting on some small stuff like the PAC box, etc. I just took some pics for you guys to see. Enjoy.

Re: Car Computer Pics

haha yea.... if you think thats a lot of wires I should take a pic of all the wires under my passenger floor mat. lol. Right now everythings sort of just there till I get some other stuff in and then I can decide how I wanna go about finishing my install. I'm sort of playing around with software and checking out what I wanna use. Just ordered my GPS software. I should be getting that in sometime this coming week. That's another wire to take care of. lol. Anyways, yea I will hardwire and hide the wires later on and the cassette is temporary till I get the PAC box. Thanks.

Re: Car Computer Pics

nice job on the whole lcd part... what software is that? Don't recognize it.

Also, you buy the navigation cubby thing? Is it spring loaded and stuff? How much did that run you? How hard was it to install?

Thanks

Re: Car Computer Pics

Thanks... The screen I used is the Xenarc 700TSV and the material used to cover up the gap was just some chip board (architecture modeling supply), it's like poster board except thicker and more durable. I think the design complements the sliding cover for the cup holders. The software is winamp and the skin I'm using is a modified version of "Arby's" skin for those of you familiar with it. I am also running Media Engine 2.0 which I like a lot but didn't get any shots of that for you to see. Yes I am using the all the parts for the stock navigation for a stealth install. I got these parts for however much I said they were in the group buy a while ago. It is spring loaded just like the stock navigation. I might have a video demonstration of this for you guys to see sometime later on once I install everything for good. As you can see right now everythings just kinda there and there are a lot of visible wires but I'll fix that later. The screen required A LOT of modifications to the stock parts like the lcd holder and the mechanism, I wouldn't recommend this for someone who doesn't have dremeling experience. If you have any other questions just ask. Thanks again.

Re: Car Computer Pics

Beautiful!
How difficult was it to actually install the oem navi parts? I'm thinking about ordering a G35 without navi.
What I would want to do is do something similar to your setup (except I have a lilliput t/s lcd). I also want to do the double din modification. (replace the bose head unit) Do you think it is possible to have both a LCD and a custom DIN/nonbose head unit? Is there space? Or any other serious issues involved?
Once again, great work!

Re: Car Computer Pics

The installation of the navi parts was actually pretty easy, it's just getting the aftermarket screen to fit properly thats the hard part. I don't know how the double din and the aftermarket navi would work out. The spring loaded mechanism actually sits right on top of the bose radio and comes down on the sides of it. The space is very tight in there. I'm just not very familiar with how the doubledin would fit into place so I couldn't make any comment on it. My only concern would be the size of the aftermarket radio... if it's close the the width of the bose radio and doesn't come any higher then the bose then I don't see why it shouldn't work. I wish I had a picture to tell you what I was talking about but I kind of forgot to take pictures half way through the whole project. Sorry, but just ask if you have any other questions. Thanks for the comments.

Re: Car Computer Pics

this pic doesn't help much but it'll give you an idea of how the mechanism fits into place. The sides of it hang over the bose unit and it sits right on top of it. The rest is self explanatory. If you have any other questions then just ask. I have some other angles if you would like to see.
