Question about speaker mounting depths

As most of you know, the front speakers in the G35 have spacers built right into the speakers themselves...without these spacers, the speaker mounting depth is very shallow. Does any of you know just how deep of a space there is between the metal panel of the door and the window when its rolled down? Im trying to install aftermarket componet speakers and need to figure out how large of a spacer is needed to install the appropriate speaker.

Buy the spacers from www.zenclosures.com and you'll be set. If he doesn't have any listed, call him. They are inexpensive.

The spacers aren't necessarily needed to add clearance to the back of the speaker, but rather to space the front of the speaker to the back of the plastic door panel for better sound.

Not sure if this will help but with a 3/4" homemaid spacer my Kappa Perfects hit the window. With the Zenclosures Gilley mentioned they were fine.

Naughty, I used a 1" Metra spacer to ensure clearance with my window using Kappa Perfects. I had to trim about and 1/8" off the door panel to fit it flush. Just another option for the OP.
