**** You Bose

I just installed my amp, 4080 box, and subwoofer. The sub sounds like absolute **** when it's connected the BOSE system. When I plug an iPod into the amp, the subs sound normal. It must be the ****ing piece of **** BOSE. I Used an RCA spliced into the factory wiring BEFORE the BOSE amp.
I used these wires:
LR+ Brown (pin 26), LR- Yellow (pin 25), RR+ Blue(pin 24) RR- Pink (pin 23)

Should I have used an LOC instead of the RCA?

Someone knows how to do this properly. I know there are other 2005 sedan owners who have installed a subwoofer with the BOSE system. Can you chime in? Please?

Did you adjust the gains and settings on the amp when connected to the Bose HU?

Yep, I started out with the amp connected to BOSE. I started by adjusting gains as usual then I noticed sub volume was extremely low. So I turned up the gain and bass boost up all the way and the sub volume remains extremely low. I tried reversing the speaker wires just in case I had wired them backwards, but oddly enough the sub sounded the same either way
Once I connected my iPod directly to the amp, it sounded fine.
I am used an Alpine MRP-M850 amplifier, and I used the JL Audio RCA splice to get the signal.

It's my understanding the the Blose HU has a completely different equalization set from a standard HU. You will need to use something like THIS.

i am tapping into the speaker wires before the **** amp, so I shouldn't have to worry about the **** equalization (BOSE is now a 4 letter word). It's possible that I'm tapping into the wrong wires, but apparently no one knows the right wires to tap into. I just need some wire colors for an 05 sedan.

Someone recently posted his installation in his sedan with the wire colors and pics that need to be tapped before the Bose system. Do a quick search in this section.

I think the equalization is performed BEFORE the amp, that's my point.

All the information points to the EQ being done inside the Bose amp. Early testing with a meter showed the signal out of the Bose HU to be pretty flat.

I actually work for bose...

from my understanding of how our home systems work, Gilley is right. The EQ is actually at the amp level. There is no EQ done in the head units for out home theater systems, it's all in the subwoofers.

I'm assuming the car setups are the same

and for the record...i test drove a G with the bose system and bought one without it because i knew i was just going to rip it all out anyways.

and ACR - **** you too!

Hmm im running a single 12" RF P3 powered by an RF amp, connected to my rear speakers on my 2003 Bose G35 Sedan, with a noise filter, and a high/low convertor, splicing into the wires BEFORE the BOSE Amp, and the setup works beautifully. I keep my stock BOSE HU with bass set at -5 normally, and use my external bass control on the amp to lower and increase the bass. Everything works great.

The first time i connected the system the sub sounded very low, and only got loud at top volume, so i increased the gain, adjusted the frequency a bit, and put the HU setting for bass to -5, and everything worked great.

I'd rather get this...allows you to do much more down the line.

don't get me wrong...i love our home gear (especially when i get it 50% off...)

but, as ATR put it, that "premium" setup in the G35 is garbage. i personally don't really get why anyone would want to keep the head unit in their car at all.

Hell, i have a 2006 sedan and it doesn't have an Aux input? Jesus. what car made after 2000 doesn't have an Aux in?

otherwise, i do love my car. it's just sad that it's been such a pain for the last 3 months trying to get a hold of a stupid finishing kit and controller so i can put a real stereo in it. but i got mine from grubbs and i'm happy now.

ok. sorry. /end rant

It truly is. My gf's Mazda 3 has a better audio package and hers is stock. Great midbass on it. Only thing I like about the Bose audio package for the G is the 6 disc changer.
