PAC SWI-PS help.

So I installed my Z2 w/ the toys today. Came out great. Soldered all connections except a few T-taps, etc.

But I can't get my SWI-PS to program, using the following instructions.
http://www.pac-audio.com/swixprogram...ehicles&ID=211

I set it to Version 3 fine.

But it's step 7 that isn't working. I was able to get it into "learn" mode, but the keys aren't doing anything.

Can anyone suggest a few things to check? I'm REALLY not happy about having to pull that whole thing out again. What a MESS those wires are.

Is the SWI-PS grounded?

I had something similar happen during my install.... when I checked the wires I forgot to ground the SWI-PS.

I'd think I wouldn't get ANY led action if it wasn't grounded. Yes, it is soldered in to my ground-all connection, of which everything else is working properly

The LEDs would lit up for everything else I did (setting the version, etc) but would not light up during the learning phase....all it did was blink 3 times until I tapped into the yellow wire (ground) like the instructions said. Once I did that I was able to program the buttons without problems

Oh, THAT ground. I did that, yes, but used a Tap connector. I'm going to have to figure some way to test it out, as I don't trust those things. I soldered / heat-shrunk every connection I possibly could.

Thinking about it, I used a blue t-tap, which is for 16-18 ga, not pink which is 20-22. That could be the cause.

JESUS Christ on a Crutch, I don't want to pull that radio back out. I have no idea how I got it all in there in the first place.....

And anyways, I want to know how six buttons can possibly be fed through two wires to that unit. Gosh...

Those PAC units can be a challenge to program. I always program it before I put the dash back together just in case something like this happens. Sorry you have to take the dash apart again.

Were you able to resolve this problem? I'm running into exactly the same issue (I can get it set to version 3, etc), but once I get it into program mode (and the LED is lit), as soon as I program volume up (by pushing volume up on my steering wheel, then holding it one second longer after the LED on the PAC goes out), the led on the PAC never comes back on.

Any ideas? All is connected properly (and grounded properly, including the yellow, pin 25, wire).

Thanks in advance for any info!

If anyone else runs into this, just re-ground the yellow wire (pin 25)...

I had tapped into the same ground that I was using for my bluetooth adapter (CD-BTB200) and once I move it and grounded it (pin 25 yellow) to it's own ground, all went well.

Programming is easy once you have it installed properly... lol I'm hard-headed sometimes!

Sourcepro, I will try that WHEN I have the desire to pull the radio back out.

Honestly, It's going to be a while. It's quite a project, I don't have a garage, and it's way too hot to do this stuff outside right now. It'd be one thing if removing the radio didn't require taking the entire dash apart.

I can relate... lol I'm in Texas and even in the garage (no fan) it's about 105 degrees. Actually, after originally installing the deck last weekend, I was wearing a blue t-shirt and sweat so much that the die from the shirt faded onto the tan seat leather... I finally got all that to come off.....

Finally, two months later, I had time to pull it all out.

Re-connected the three taps, and it's all set!
