Fellas, im trying to hardwire the power for my Inno to the Cigarette lighter! now ive searched and seen all the gps hardwires which entails 3 wires but on my Inno there are only 2 wire that goes to the male end of the adapter.

now what im thinkin is to cut the male adapter and solder in behind the lighter, but what im foggy on is what to solder to being that there are 3 wires on the back of the lighter. also i want the Inno to turn on and off with the car like it does now. i will be attempting this this wknd so any help and pics would be helpful or recommendations!

 

It may be easier and better to get an "add a circuit" from the auto parts store and wire the Inno into the fuse panel.

 

Listen to gilley, he is smart. And add a circuit would be best. Just pick a circuit that turns off with the ignition so it acts like it does now.

 

How would you "add a circuit"? is it easy? dont wanna fry anything!

 

add a circuit. unplug stock fuse, add to the add a circuit, add new fuse, insert add a circuit and run wire. done.

 

so how would i connect the wires from the inno? man i hope this dont fry anything!

 

just googled that thing and it seem sweet! what fuse would you recommend adding to?

 

How is the inno powered now? If uses a cig lighter adaptor, open the end and look at the fuse, there should be a rating, use the same.

i tapped power from the wires going to the cigarette and placed the adapter in the center console area there's plenty of room in there and ran the wire to the inno car dock.

 

LT1, do you have anymore pics? looks like the add a circuit would be easier.

 

hold up, does the inno run of 5VDC? if so then you have to either do what LT1 said or take apart the cig lighter adaptor thing and use whats in there. This whole time I was thinking the inno ran on 12V. There are probably more options but from the way it seems LT1's would be the cleanest install. for $19 that's what I would do.
