My local audio shop said they could do a custom fiberglassed center console with a Double Din for $350, costs a little more but from the pics he showed me of others alot more flexibilty, Im putting my A/C controls down low and moving the screen up top.

^Are they aware that they might need to buy a different controller? At least in the 04's the HVAC controls are integrated into the same circuit board as the radio. If they are saying $350 tell them great but you would like to see some references for work they have done in a G35. I don't mean to be a downer, you might be getting a great deal, I just don't want someone hacking up your car.

Thats what I was asking the guy, he pulled up pictures of a few G35 installs they did and they looked clean. Im not sure if they rework the circuit board or just buy a jdm a/c unit and relocate it. When it comes time to shell out cash, I will definatly find out more details. This was Audio Express, a pretty large chain on the west coast, but there not really known for there high end installs, I think it basically comes down to the installer.

Well cool, sounds like a good deal for custom work if it is good. I always thought that the JDM HVAC controller was almost 2/3 of the approx. $300 cost of going DD. I really want a new stereo but have spent all the money I have allotted (what my car payments were) on performance and appearance mods. I am over budget now but I hope to get back on track in the winter.

The home of the $1 install right? lol Just be sure to get another quote for reference before you do it.

JDM DD is probably one of the cleanest options IMO.
Sometimes I wish I would have done the AVIC Z2 but for the price, I'm very happy with the D3. I did just the headunit at first with all the OEM stuff (speakers and amp) but it just didnt sound right so I winded up upgrading everything (all JL Audio)

Hey the interior of your car is clean as hell too. I am not the least bit surprised.

Good camera positioning. With a few minor changes it almost looks like a picture you would find in the brochure, it makes the car look very large inside.
