cannot go with factory navi... it will cost about $6k and they have to tear apart the whole car...

Re: add in factory navi

I hear it's $6,000 just for the parts. It's not a cost-effective option. Look in the Audio/Video forum, search for "nav" in there and see what people have done. Some really nice jobs with aftermarket nav units installed in the cubby hole at the top of the center console.

Re: add in factory navi

hey,
you can get one of those replacement dash things from japan where you can install a nice alpine or pioneer dvd/cd/mp3/nav and also some eq or separte cd player on bottom...it will probably cost 500 for dash 1500-2000 for nav 200-500 for cd player and maybe 500 for installation.

I thought it was only 2000 to get the navi and install?

Re: add in factory navi

wait a minute. if you have the double din from Japan, can you just go to the junk yard and tear out a navi from another car? personally, i like the way its integrated into the car. i dont really like those flip screens cause they get in the way of your ac controls and stuff.

the flip screens w/ double-din are the way to go and ill tell you why.... the ones ontop are too hard to touch while driving, because they are too far away, at least with my seating position.

gurgenpb, does yours even close? it looks like its a lot bigger than the cubby hole itself....

If your knees bent the opposite way...what would chairs look like?

Re: add in factory navi

In Long Beach, that car is called a "target" and unless you live it it, it's contents will dissapear very shortly.

The new Z and the Scions have the right idea. Put the sound behind a factory cover. No one knows what you have and it dissapears when you want it to.

You CAN live in your car, however you cannot drive your house. Makes you think.
