Re: I can't fit my amps!!!! HELP

I was considering selling the amps and getting some different one's that are a little smaller. Any suggestions?

Maybe the easier route would be to get a different sub and sell off the Shiva??? I don't know, what subs are good that are out there now? I really don't know much about stereo stuff, I was told by someone else to by this equipment. Now I'm thinking maybe a different sub that's 12" that requires a smaller box and still sounds good!!! But what???

Oh yea, forgot to mention, I tried to get him to build a fiberglass box and install the sub in the spare tire compartment, but b/c the Shiva needs 2.3 cubic feet of air space, it just barely doesn't work out. I think he said he could only fit a 1.9 cubic foot box in there. So maybe a different sub is the way to go??? Suggestions??

I think that would be the way to go. I don't know how you could get a box that large in the trunk without taking up all the space. Unless you just really want to save space, I say keep the amps. If you just want one sub, look for a 2 ohm DVC speaker that can handle 1000 watts...that's what the amp will put out @ 1 ohm.

Check out the specs on a Boston Acoustic 12.5LF sub. It only needs 1.0 cf, and I'm very happy with mine.
I'm powering it with a PPI 500.1 amp with the gains set very low, and it pounds.

An amp rack on the inside of the trunk lid. BUt I'm afraid the amp is too heavy and the trunk wouldn't stay open on it's own!!!

ah, no I wouldn't do that. It might stay open but I doubt it... It would weigh a ton as well. I put some sound deadening material all over the lid and it weighed it down a lot. Plus I don't know if there would be a good way to mount it without putting holes through the other side...well I'm sure it "could" be done, just depends how much $ you want to throw at it.

Re: I can't fit my amps!!!! HELP

I think I"ve decided to just get the box built to the recommended 2.3 cubic feet of air and stick with the Shiva. And just get the amps mounted to the box itself with plenty of dynomat to make sure they're ok. I'm just gonna have to sacrafice a little more trunk space than I was hoping.

Re: I can't fit my amps!!!! HELP

Well, yesterday morning at 9:30am I dropped my car off for the stereo install. The guy had my car for 11.5 hours and didn't finish the job. He said he had a heck of a time taking the dashboard off. Anyways, the sub got installed, the Navone LOC and the 2 amp lines were ran. He didn't get a chance to install the door speakers and tweeters yet, that will be Monday morning. But with just the sub (12" Shiva) and the stock speakers, it's sounds ok. I was afraid of it being too much bass b/c of the 1000.1 amp, but it's not. Sounds pretty good so far, but I can't wait to hear the finished product when the front components get installed. I'll post here how much the sound quality goes up after the components get in there!!!!

ouch. i hope hes not charging you for the dash removal. i did that part myself before i went to the audio place when i did my install. took me a mere 15 minutes at the most. and it saved me probably 50 bucks. hahahaa. thanks everyone for those sweet *** DIY guides.

Re: I can't fit my amps!!!! HELP

Well, I have the front door and tweeters installed, just one problem, when the volume is turned low, or even when it's completely off, there's a loud buzzing sound. And no it doesn't change pitch when I hit the gas. What the heck is this??? My stereo guy is gonna try and fix it today, and install a speaker filter??? (I think that's what he's doing)

Any advice????
