I can't fit my amps!!!! HELP

I just purchased 2 new amps, Precision Power 1000.1 and a 600.4 DCX. I'm trying to squeeze a 12* Adire Shiva woofer in the trunk w/ room left to fit my golf clubs. Here's the problem, the amps are HUGE, and the box needs to have 2.3 cubic feet of air, my "stereo guy" says it practically will take up ALOT of trunk space . What do should I do?

Get smaller amps??? I'm a namebrand ho, so that's why I went with PP's. I heard the Shiva woofer was awesome, it just needs such a huge box for it to sound good. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

thanks in advance

Re: I can't fit my amps!!!! HELP

If you are in a Coupe, you are pretty much screwed.

Even without a spare tire. The air space and size of the amps will amke the available space nearly nil. you might be able to fit a thin bag, but definately not a large puffy one.

Maybe go to different speakers. Remove your spare tire and othe crap under the carpet.. Mount the amps under the floor level. That would give you more room.

Re: I can't fit my amps!!!! HELP

I have a 2004 Sedan. I suggested to my installer to put the amps in the spare tire compartment and ditch the spare. He said they wouldn't have enough room to breathe!!!!

Re: I can't fit my amps!!!! HELP

Here's what I did...I'm not too happy with the size of the box (way too big, carpet doesn't match, etc...) Just waiting on the 2 ohm DVC PPI 12" sub. I had the 4 ohm DVC but it wasn't hitting hard enough at 2 ohms, so I'll try 1 ohm. I'll probably have the box redone eventually.

Bottom amp is the 600.4, top is 500.1...You could keep more room if you put the sub in the spare compartment...

Re: I can't fit my amps!!!! HELP

BTW - no the amps aren't sitting on each other. Don't they look like floating hover boards? J/K If you look in the first pic you can kind of make out the black board between them under the corners of the 500.1

Let me know if you have any questions.

Re: I can't fit my amps!!!! HELP

Since when are amps purchased for looks? I'm not building a show car. And BTW, I don't place much value on anyone's opinion who uses words like "shiznit".

Oh, a sedan... then you should be all right. A sedans trunk is about 1 billion times bigger than a coupes.

My brother-in-law has G35 sedan with 2 12" subs built into the bottom of the trunk ( with the spare tire well fiberglassed in for added air space) and the amps hidden down there as well. He did not loose much of his trunk at all.

Re: I can't fit my amps!!!! HELP

1st off, i wasn't making fun of your amps. PPIs are pretty decent amps. i was just stating that the amps are ugly as sin compared to their older style amps. 2nd off, for the price you paid for those amps, you could have done much better. and last, before you bitch and complain about the amps being to big, you should have did some measurements

Re: I can't fit my amps!!!! HELP

First off, Heya... I hope to God that you are getting some kind of airflow over that bottom amp. If not, then you're going to have to buy another amp soon... heat=death.

Second, to Gold Clam, your amps are fine, you can probably find some way to mount them to the back of the seat but as for the sub, the shiva sounds great for the price but yea, it takes up way too much space. I would look into getting an a/d/s sub, the sound quality of those is incredible if you don't mind giving up some spl. Also, even the image dynamics idq series are pretty good in terms of sound quality. Both require significantly smaller boxes than the shiva. If you must have adire audio and cost is no option, the brahma is an excellent sub. I used to run one in my old car and was very satisfied with it.

Oh yea, you can mount the amps underneath the the trunk floor if and only if you cut out some holes and find some way to get some air flow down there or else your amps will overheat and die.

Re: I can't fit my amps!!!! HELP

I try to help by posting some pics and this is the nonsense I get...

dpoon

1. I really don't care if you like my amps or not.

2. You don't know how much I paid for anything.

3. No one has complained about the size, someone asked how to make them fit, I posted pics with the way I did it.

4. Doughster - yes I know, if you can't see it, both amps are elevated and neither is touching anything. There is a space between the amp and floor, and a space between the two amps. It really doesn't get too hot but I might put a fan underneath.
