haha no but i would set it to 4ohms. But the reason I asked is because I found a site that made a review for the top ten amps that were the best for the price and that was in it

Alright so I guess my best bet is to keep my eye out for the alpine pdx 1.1000. Im anxious to get it set up and someone is selling a jl 500/1 for $225 in my area but Im gonna be patient and keep searchin for a 1000 watt
I wouldn't wait just for the PDX, it's a great amp but there are others. 225 for the 500/1 seems like a good deal, but it all depends on whether you are wanting more power or not. try listening to a similar setup

I bought it used from Kurtis ^. Right after I dropped it the cone was sucked in. I unscrewed it from the 4080 box and it let out. But now the cone is just stuck, it doesn't budge when I touch it. It's completely stiff. I tried it in my friends car. Doesn't work at all.
Hmmm, interesting. Not sure how that would happen by being dropped, but I've never dropped a sub so I don't really know. I remember using a POS Visonik amp that I bought on eBay once and it cooked the coil sending it AC current or something. Speaker would extend but not play music and it ended up frying the sub. I'd say the coil is out of place or is somehow stuck in the pole vent. It will require a recone and ID can still handle that.
I would strongly recommend you test the Alpine amp to ensure proper operation. Also double check all your connections. Something must have gone seriously wrong to cause the motor to seize. I'm sure the sub was in perfect working order so I would suspect the installation, configuration, or settings. Better safe than sorry.
