Glad I could be of assistance....it's inevitable....the mod bug bites hard and then its all over

Glad you got the JDM DD kit...the others as chinaman said have been known to not be of good quality. With either kit, you lose the dual climate control feature. Though I think there is a mod you can do to regain that feature. I just went without since I never used it anyways.

Hello everyone on G35Driver

I got the same problem also, my wife was driving when she noticed that the AC came on by itself and when she tried to shut it off it wouldn't. She also noticed that all buttons in the middle console were dead too.
The steering wheel controls still work the radio, but thats it?
Is there a fix, HELP

The METRA kit does offer dual climate control still...unfortunately the problem is that the buttons are rubber which look/feel cheap compared to the stock/JDM buttons.

After dealing with the same problem on two prior G35 radios and now having the same problem on a third, I think the "fix" is to get rid of Infiniti's junk and get one of the kits and use an aftermarket radio. Kinda sucks to lose the steering wheel controls though.

I have the same problem with my 2003 sedan. So you're saying that if I replace the radio the heater/AC controls will come back?

Sorry to wake up an old thread, but if I replace the stock radio with an aftermarket, and not have the circut board replaced, will the A/C functions return? I just want to make sure that I'm not spending money on a new radio that will ultimately not fix the problem.

I appreciate the feedback.

You would have to buy a double Din convertion with AC controllers. Look around the FS thread. You can find some double din for sale. I had the same problem when my ac and radio will act, I got a new HU and DIn convertion and fix the problem. The other solution is fixing or replacing your circuit board.

so is buying a new radio would fix this? I dont care about the steering wheel controls to the radio its not important, im just need my AC since I live in vegas and it will get very hot out here. I cant have my AC blasting hot air uncontrolable in mid summer.

im no electrical genius, and I dont know what a double din is. all I wanna know is if buying a new aftermarket radio will fix this problem thank you!

Yep, new aftermarket radio fixes it, because you have to replace the a/c controls to put in the new radio.

"Double DIN" is the size of the headunit that fits in the aftermarket radio installation trim kits.

why do you need to replace the AC controls? isnt it separate from the radio? or is it one unit?

thanks for the reply

I called infiniti dealer, they agree there should have been a recall for it and that a new radio will fit it. so I asked if an aftermarker radio would do, thay said it has to be the same radio.

I need to know if this is true, he gave me a price of $550 for a new radio and 1 hour installment.

You'll just have another issue down the road. For 550 you may as well get an aftermarket DD radio

thanks again! you guys are very helpful.

before I go look for a new stereo and a double din conversion, let me ask what exactly is causing this problem? so I can tell this to my new favorite electrician who will fix this sometime next week.
