Radio will not come ON, AC turns on by itself & controlls wont work - No display
Hello everyone!
I drive a 2003 G35 Sedan and I'm hoping someone has is familiar with this issue since I definitely have no clue what the heck is wrong with my car. Last Tuesday my CD changer went bad after trying to eject a CD, i would try to eject but nothing would come out. So i didnt pay attention to it and just jammed with the wack radio stations i get. Now today (7 days later) I start my car and I noticed that the AC came on by itself and when i tried to shut it off I noticed that all buttons in the middle console (radio or ac controller) were dead... I dont even get a displace on the radio LCD. So i'm stock with the AC on, cant change the temp, shut it off or anything. An of course now i have no music at all.
I want to think that the CD changer is what trigger this but i just dont know if replacing the bose radio with indash cd changer will fix the issue. I unplugged the battery hoping it was a reset issue but that didnt do anything.
Any ideas?

I am absolutely feeling your pain!!! Have same prob! whats even worst? one morning it was cold so i set temp at 90 degrees..now my a/c is spitting fire through my vents. same thing you did.unplugged battery for a reset but negative. and i've had my prob for about a month!i got 2 jobs so finding time to fix it is hard to come by. This thursday im taking it to a stereo shop but am afraid they might not find whats wrong with it! A dealership came to mind but am afraid theyll charge me a bill just to do a checkup to find a prob. I'll keep u updated
ya gots 2 love google. Guess you gotta disconnect battery for 30 secs to reset..if not working, which is our case..infiniti has designed a new ac/radio faceplate to eliminate this problem. contact your local infiniti dealer...now is this a recall?..couldnt find
Yeah i looked up the recalls as well and there isnt anything for the AC controll unit or the radio.
I'll try unplugging the battery today again and just leave it unplug for a few mins to see if it makes any difference, but it sounds like i'm going to have to pay a visit to the dealer which is simply bad news since those people talk about $hundreds$ for something as simple changing a fuse...

It's not a recall but there is a TSB for it and the dealer will replace it for free, if you are still under warranty. I had it done to my car way back when. I'll see if I can find the TSB for it.
Basically, your ac controls and radio are riding on the same circuit board...the board is faulty and needs to be replaced.

VOLUNTARY SERVICE CAMPAIGN 2003 INFINITI G35 SEDAN; AUDIO FINISHER CIRCUIT BOARD
On some model year 2003 G35 Sedans manufactured through August 21, 2002, the audio and temperature controls may not operate as expected. When using the audio equipment or the temperature controls, the unit may become inoperative. In some cases, this can be corrected by turning the ignition switch off and back on again. In other cases, the unit remains inoperative and requires service by an Infiniti technician. To prevent this condition, Infiniti has initiated a Voluntary Service Campaign to replace the audio finisher circuit board on these vehicles. Use Infiniti Net to confirm if a specific vehicle is affected by this service campaign (P3104).
Call your infiniti dealer, they will be able to punch in your VIN # and tell you if this recall has been done to your car before. They won't do the recall a second time if the new board fails again....I tried already, that's why I went aftermarket instead (JDM Double Din)
If you create yourself a login on infinitihelp.com you can download the recall bulletin for yourself in PDF. The bulletin should contain the VIN number range covered in this recall.

G35PAPA,
That was some great information you provided me with, I created the account at infinitihelp.com downloaded the recall info and noticed that my vin is actually within the range that is affected by this problem.... SO i called the nearest dealer to me and let them know of the problem (reference: ITB03-007b) but they said they is not an actual recall, this would have been done for free if the car was under warranty which obviously is not so I need to pay for the repairs... bunch of bastards (and no my car never got this done) I swear this people know how to get you!
But hey!
Thanks for looking into this and sharing the info...

The service campaign bulletin i downloaded from infinitihelp.com shows the instructions but arent quite the easiest to follow... I see if i can manage to do it and just get a single din or double din radio (damn it here come the expenses!!!!) LOL
I had the same problem, I took out the radio myself and sent it to Clarion
for the fix 200$, put her back in and she has been working ever since. Its been over a year and a half.
After I changed the front components and added a AMP to drive
them and everything is good to go.

I notice that unless i know the difference between the two i cant really tell... but just to make sure i follow your suggestion which one is the legit JDM converstion kit? I looked up the JDM and noticed that it doesnt have the dual climate control but does have the chrome ring around the up/down temp button when the one i listed on my previous post does have the dual climate button yet doesnt have the chrome ring around the up/down temp button (which makes it look cheap)
Okay so here's what i ordered:
* Pioneer AVIC-F900BT (double din, in-dash navigation system)
* JDM Double Din conversion kit
* PIONEER CD-IU230V IPOD INTERFACE (to control the ipod from the radio)
G35Papa the things you made me do... now i gotta girl my girl's mouth! LOL
I may get the Sirius kit for it too LOL (dont know i want to pay another $120 though)
